I think you have a good point there. It also sets up the view in people's mind of CC being someone spineless and incapable of defending her own position (or too arrogant and idle to do so).

I also view anyone throwing legal weight around in fandom over such issues with some disgust - I feel certain it's treading perilously close to professional misconduct.
