Are none of the HP fandom people involved in political volunteering? Because one you start (especially if you live in or near DC), it's not hard to find someone who can either debunk or verify anyone else's involvement, at least if they're claiming to be in politics for pay. It's not exactly a huge profession, after all. If I knew someone who had Dem contacts, I'd ask them, but unfortunately I don't. I can't imagine that there isn't *someone* who could, though.
