The Lysis! I love Socrates in that dialog. I've always wanted to write the Director's Cut of that dialog with the sharing the mattress scene not cut out... slashy! Old man and young blushing boy....

I remember reading the Lysis in college (in Greek). We finally got through one passage and the prof sat the book down and said "Now I remember why they don't give this to undergraduates."

Plato in Greek is not too bad. I found Aeschylus much more difficult.

So us little Greeklings got our reading up to a decent speed by the end of the Lysis...and then the prof gave us book 8 of the Nicomachean Ethics, and it was like slamming your head into a brick wall.

Oh my yes. I bounced around in that book and found it very slow. It is really funny if you go read the new testament after that because the Koigne is like "see spot run" Greek. You can pretty much sight read it.

En arche ho logos, kai ho logos, dia theo. Hmmmmmm.

too lazy to actually put it in Greek letters right now. Silly unicode...

en arkhe en ho logos, kai ho logos pros ton theon...good times, those. Koine is so nice and readable. Aristotle writes Greek like a two-year old on crack.

Or a man who arranges sea shells into categories on his honeymoon...
