Cassandra Clare's original-fic protagonist is now a canon Sue.

Other highlights:

From a mouse, the suggestion of Grudgewank (here).

From [info]ichigatsu:
There is some fangirling and the Amazon forums are starting to get slightly sticky.

The CoB review comm (thanks to [info]khym_chanur.)

Ooooooh. This will be so great!

Other Annoying Traits: Unclear prose. Purple prose. Misused words. Putting more emphasis on what characters are wearing than on their personalities. Using the word "mundie" to describe ordinary humans. Managing to snow Simon & Schuster into thinking that this derivative, unoriginal, poorly characterized work--which is typical of the sort of drivel from the Pit of Voles that we spork on a daily basis--is good enough for publication.

Lookit, the proof that it's a Sue is right there: the OP of the post doesn't even notice where she stops reviewing the Sue and starts reviewing the author!

Fray's new hit song is "How to Save a Tale", in which they detail the tedious editing needed to make even a few lines of this claptrap readable. It's going to be a big hit with the teeny-boppers, I'm sure.

Fray... isn't that the name of the comic book Slayer in the future? Just sayin'. I think I'd have avoided it just as a caution with all the Buffyverse-related fanfic drama.

My goal in my professional career: To never, ever make canon_sues.

(Which should be easy as, unlike CC, I haven't been able to finish anything original, let alone find a publisher. :am chastened: :oh, well:)

Hell, VC Andrews is more original, and those books are [insert character here] in [insert situation here] while being molested by [insert family member here]. Honestly.

Does she have a bingo board of cultural tropes to plagiarise from? Does she get a leg of ham if she gets a horizontal or vertical line? Maybe a nice giant novelty comb for the full board?

If I wanted to see a crappy Hellraiser/Blade/BTVS rip-off, I would have watched the original movies in the first place.

Dude, she's *this* close to writing 'sheeple'. It's bad enough she's calling humans mundane.

His black shirt was blacker now in some places, wet with blood.

It's like - how much more black can you get? And the answer is none. None more black.

Bleh. What an awkward read that was. Kinda makes me feel better about my own writing. Also lets me know what to keep an eye out for. Handy, really. The sporking is a bit literal in parts, as someone said above, but I could see how it's difficult to stay balanced in the face of such gawd-awful writing.

Then again, I've learned first hand how 'tarded fangirls can be, even when faced with plagarism. :/ I just sort of ignore Cassie Clare because she annoys me.
