Quoi? He found it over a decade ago... even though the first book came to the US ten years ago (this week, I think). Unless he got it when it was released in the UK, which wasn't much earlier than that, and he opened up shop days after release. Did he really open it over a decade ago!? That seems almost impossible.

The article makes it sound a bit like SVA and RDR will file for appeal to keep their options open, but might actually try to rewrite the book to pass muster instead. I kind of wish it would just go away, but if they use Judge RPattz's as a guideline and put some actual work in, they could probably make something legal. The question is, are they actually willing to invest the time and creativity required to do that?

When I first read this I was all "Bullshit," but then I thought about it and realized it was all true! He was always willing to work "with" Rowling as long as they were equal partners and he got to lecture her about her factual inaccuracies and her editors' failings. It's just the whole no-you-can't-collaborate-with-her, actually-responding-to-cease-and-desist-letters thing he wasn't into.
