Countdown to slashpocalypse in three... two....
Posting this here because it's early days yet. I mean, this could get so much bigger. (And I'm feeling kind of evil for hoping it does.)

The scary starts when zenamydog posts in the dean_sam community (complete with scrolling text, which I refuse to duplicate):

MISHA WANTS MORE SLASH!

It’s all over the fandom. At the recent LA convention, Misha Collins was quoted as saying…

“I'm fascinated by this slash fic thing. I’ve read only one, but it stuck with me. I'd like to find out more, if I could do it without being molested."

Well, Misha… Your wish is our command.

As some of you may know, I am going to the convention in Vancouver in August.

So here is the idea folks… If Misha wants more… Then let’s give it to him.

So what am I after? (under the cut)

Working Title: MISHA’S LITTLE BOOK OF FANFICTION.

I plan to put together 6-8 fanfiction stories and present it to him when I have the opportunity. I will have it bound and my hope is that it will have some great artwork on the front. ANY TAKERS?

I need REC’S REC’S AND MORE REC’S. But there is a condition… The Author must know you’ve REC’d it, so if it’s used, they won’t get a shock when I ask their permission.

Obviously if your rec is one of the fics that go into this, then the Author will need to give consent. You may let the writer know that it can be included anonymously if they wish. Self rec’s are very welcome.

Good meaty fics folks… (Try saying that fast.) Plot is very important.
Fics must be between 2,000 and 10,000 words and complete.

CATAGORIES

REAL PERSON SLASH.
 Misha/?
 Jared/Jensen
 Jeff/?
All pairings in this section okay.
GEN/HET.
Well thought out stories with plot and maybe some ‘brotherly’ love?
We need two of these stories in this category. Bonus point If it feature’s Castiel.
SLASH.
 Sam/Dean
 Castiel/?

So REC me your best people!! But please no Daddycest.

*hugs to you all*

Z.

Mods please delete if not allowed.

She also made an identical post on spnstoryfinders, but it has since been deleted. Perhaps the mods did not, in fact, allow it!

So far, it's four pages of people saying OH HELL NO. And one or two people who are, incredibly, for it. The latter commenter especially seems to have an epic case of Not Getting It:

Personally, I don't think he'd be all that upset if they are about CHARACTERS, characters are NOT real people. It would be like giving Harrison Ford a Han Solo and Luke Skywalker slash... he might not be 'into' it, but I DOUBT he'd be offended.
And somehow, the twin spectres of Harry Potter and Strikethrough rear their ugly heads. Because in the end, everything always comes back to HP.

EDIT: Deleted, alas (or... yay? for sanity's sake?), but I managed to save it:
Page 1
Page 2
Page 3
Page 5

Screencaps of collapsed threads and of page 4 (which, for some reason, insisted on only saving as the "no such post" screen) forthcoming. And I really need to get me some of that full-page-screencapping action.

EDIT THE SECOND: Screencaps of collapsed comment threads and all of page 4.

But please no Daddycest.

Yes because THAT would be wrong. Twincest and Real Person Slash on the other hand are a-okay.

It's so funny when they have squicks and no insight into how their other kinks are squicks.

Yeah, that might be my favorite part. It's such a mundane piece of knobbishness in an otherwise unadulterated sea of crazy!

I also like how whoever says that seems to have the impression that mods stand around wringing their hands when a post breaks the rules but the poster hasn't given them permission to delete it.

I'd make sure to delete posts that say that. Modding from the bottom is the most obnoxious thing.

See also:

unstyled links carrying the mysterious title 'fake lj cut'
the font tag
icon posts with vast lists of television shows crossed out
pleas for other people to execute weak ideas for fanfics and/or vids

When I mod, I figure if they can't be arsed to read the rules to see if their post applies, I can't be arsed to read their post to see if it fits the rules, and I delete them out of hand.

Or if they don't specify, hey, it's not like we're on a journal site with a private messaging feature that could be used to contact the mods or anything! There's just no way to confirm that something's okay to post before making an ass out of yourself.

The internet! What a place!

They actually posted this in spnstoryfinders too, but were almost instantaneously slammed with such a volume of "OH HELL NO" that the post was deleted earlier today. The Dean_sam one still remains; the posts were exactly the same, but I think the one on the storyfinders comm got more traffic and more of a negative response.

SIGH.

From the last link (on JKR supposedly killing fandom/expression):

pretty much she put a great big wet blanket on harry potter -

Uh? Does this user hang out in the HP fandom? We're pretty much given free reign so long as we're not trying to publish a lexicon for profit.

And yes, we have... I think five libraries on my university campus (Business, Law, Medical, Geophysics, General), as well as a bookstore, and not one of them stocks any of the Harry Potter novels or anything Harry Potter-related.

The university's academic geophysics library does not contain the Harry Potter fiction series? What a great example to illustrate JKR's alleged decline in popularity!

i was at uni doing my masters in lit when the shit hit the fan,

more or less she came out and said academic work is only allowed as long as it shows the work in a good light or we'll ban it

you don't see tolkien whining do you....

Well, I know I feel a whole lot better about my academic work after reading that.

I have no idea who this man/woman is. I do not watch this show. But anyone who says that sort of thing in public deserves to be bought a beverage of their choice, given the business card of a good therapist and be told the secret of the slasher's google string: [show name]+[character name]+[character name]+slash+NC-17

Oh, I love how she hasn't seen the way people outside fandom would react. We get so into what's normal in fandom that we forget that most people think we're massive freaks.

For an example of two different views of something - in college there was a guy in the same halls of residence as me. I occasionally saw him in passing, and had spoken to him once or twice. He was just some guy. So the erotic poetry that got slipped under my door came as a bit of a surprise. In his mind, these were gifts - a way to show how much he worshipped me. To me - this was a creepy stalker who got his kicks writing porn about 17 year old girls.

He was honestly surprised when I reported him to security. He couldn't understand why I wasn't flattered.
