It is not your personal journal or soapbox, nor are we (for the most part) fannishly obsessive over the guys.Members here come from all parts of fandom, and some are not part of the LotRiPS or LotR fandom at all-- they just enjoy the wankiness and the meta of the whole Tinhat phenomenon. Some OT is usually tolerated, mostly in the comments, as the fun also comes from icon-lovin' and bonding for example; but massively OT posts are discouraged. When an OT post turns into a comment-fest restricted to two or three posters, it's time for them to take it to email or chat and stop spamming the community. Also, this is not a place to push personal agendas. Whether you think Elijah Wood is gay, bi, straight, asexual, or you don't give a fuck, that's not what we're here to discuss. It's all about the pointing and laughing. Some of us are happy that in mocking Tinhats for their most contradictory/stupid/irrational claims, we have 'turned' people from Tinhats' places and welcomed them in our midst. I'm happy about this too-- still, the way a crusade about Elijah's or Dom's or Viggo's sexuality shouldn't be led from here, this is no place for an anti-tinhat crusade either. We point and mock and laugh and disconstruct, yes; but some of us do not care at all if Tinhattery ever ceases to plague the 'Net or not. I, anatsuno, think of it this way: the Tinhat thing crumbling would deprive me of a daily dose of entertainment, and that'd be sad. But that might be only me. There are some other places you can go where people are actively engaged in campaigning against the tinhats and have made it their goal. We recommend you check out the Rusty Spork community over on LJ and the corresponding website, Sanity, Please for a gathering of this sort. Basically, activism of any kind is not specifically the purpose of dl_anon-- which doesn't mean we don't each have our opinions and causes, of course, and sometimes they will end up being discussed. Just don't expect the crowd to be friendly based on your beliefs, or to be acquired to your cause already--that would be setting yourself up for disappointment and possibly offering yourself to be snarked at by members of a differing opinion.Finally, a friendly piece of advice: When Upset, Step Away From Teh Keyboard Or Be Prepared For Snark. dl_anon: (this quote from soleta)and as a closing note, for the thick-skulled out there who need everything spelled out : No, we are NOT nice.
