The World Cup has been messing up my regular viewing, and I only got around to watching 'The Satan Pit' last night. Still, we all know that Billie Piper's leaving, and I've been doing a terribly good job of not knowing how it all ends.
Until just now.
I really thought that an article on The Guardian website anouncing the new assistant would not tell me in the very first line what happens in the last episode. So few words, so much spoilerage. It's a work of art.

Just some thoughts on the Doctor's origin:
Okay, so we have been presented with two seemingly opposed histories for the Doctor. We have the tv movie, where the Doctor flippantly announces that he is half-human on his mother's side.
We also have the novel Lungbarrow where we learn that a historical figure known as "The Other" was at odds with Rassilon and, when pursued, threw himself into the genetic loom of Gallifrey from whence his DNA ended up in the house loom of Lungbarrow and eventually into the Doctor himself, who was loomed like all other Time Lords. We also learn that Susan is likely the Other's granddaughter, rather than the Doctor's (though genetically, she would be the doctor's granddaughter, if his DNA came from The Other).
I was thinking: Do these scenarios necessarily have to be contradictory? Could it be possible that The Other is the half-human-on-his-mother's-side individual? The Doctor would be aware of the situation following the events of Lungbarrow (which took place while he was in his 7th incarnation), so perhaps he was referring to his genetic heritage, rather than the actual circumstances of his birth.

So if you've actually found this community and are bored enough to join, Welcome to this little corner of Who-flavored internet.
Pretty much, you can post whatever you want, as long as you can connect it to Doctor Who within six degrees of separation. I'm serious about the putting-offensive-material-under-a-cut-with-warnings part though. I don't give a crap if you want to post pictures of you and your girlfriend dressed up like the sixth doctor and peri while getting it on as long as it's under a cut (though I probably will make fun of you if you post shit like that).
