Shazzbaa on tumblr posted this awesome meta-analysis of the meanings of the elements of harmony and how they don't actually correspond to the strength of that character, but rather what they value the most. Makes interesting justification for some stuff we've seen this season, e.g. lying, evasive Applejack.

The good: Hasbro redubbed Ditzy Doo/Derpy Hooves' voice in "The Last Roundup" and changed Rainbow Dash's line to not call her "Derpy".

The bad: LOOK HOW MANY DISLIKES THERE ARE ON THE VIDEO AND LOOK AT ALL THE PEOPLE COMPLAINING HRRG

Myself, I just fired off a thank-you note to Hasbro.

So, surely I'm not the only one who is a little bit... disenchanted with how the larger fandom has been acting lately, and the messages the show-runners have been sending. It's cast a bit of a shadow over my enjoyment of the show, to say nothing of my desire to identify as part of said fandom.

Thoughts?

Next, my take on the "wet Rarity" reaction among the bronies:

"I want it!"
"I need it!"
"I really like her mane!"


I was already fond of Apple Bloom before the last few episodes, but I think she's now officially my favorite pony. (Bonus points for having an actual tween as a voice actor. Who also sings for Sweetie Belle!) She was adorable (though "uncouth" *BELCH*) in "Sisterhooves Social" ("ONE. DAY."), though I thought her showing off in "Cutie Pox" dragged on a bit... and then of course, it all went horribly wrong. ("help me...") Poor filly. And poor big sister, too, not knowing how to help.

Rainbow Dash choosing a pet was, alas, rather predictable, and I didn't even know about the playset until I started reading comments. Ah well, at least we got a nice song out of it.

Have you ever come across something that is relatively simple, but has you laughing and laughing and laughing? Well here's what set me off today.

I think it hit particularly hard because I'm a middle child, with older and younger siblings. So I can relate to both sides of the joke.

For me, this is canon.

So if somepony were looking for Human AU fanfic, and was somewhat scared of what somepony might stumble across while looking for it, would some other ponies be willing to share some recs? Because so far there's only one entry on AO3 tagged as human, which is some really cute fanart, but I don't feel up to searching the rest and risk stumbling on a clopjob fic by accident!

(Ideally, a sort of college AU or similar, but frankly I'm not going to be fussy)

My Little Pony attracts Brony fans

Out of the swamps of 4Chan came an unlikely trend.

“Bronies” are adult male fans of the My Little Pony cartoon series.

They were mercilessly persecuted in 4Chan, but they responded with love and tolerance.

My Little Pony is aimed at little girls. But bronies say it is surprisingly well-written and beautifully animated.

Sick of the negativity on 4Chan, the bronies set up their own Internet HQ where they can post to their heart’s content.

Haters are gonna hate, but learning the lessons of friendship can only make life better for everypony.
