My Little Pony attracts Brony fans
Out of the swamps of 4Chan came an unlikely trend.
“Bronies” are adult male fans of the My Little Pony cartoon series.
They were mercilessly persecuted in 4Chan, but they responded with love and tolerance.
My Little Pony is aimed at little girls. But bronies say it is surprisingly well-written and beautifully animated.
Sick of the negativity on 4Chan, the bronies set up their own Internet HQ where they can post to their heart’s content.
Haters are gonna hate, but learning the lessons of friendship can only make life better for everypony.
Videos in both Mandarin with English subtitles and in English at the link.

As originally posted by
thoms, Lauren Faust has announced that she is leaving My Little Pony: Friendship is magic.
And I quote Lauren Faust on her Da:
And now I suppose it’s finally time for me to deliver some unfortunate news. I’ve been uncertain for a little while now about how, when and, to be honest, whether to announce the news at all. But here it is: I am no longer working on the show. Various circumstances with the production made it increasingly impossible for me to keep up the level of personal creative involvement and control that I had at the start of the series. I don’t think I can accurately express how difficult and painful the decision was and still is. When Season 2 begins, you will see my credit changed from Executive Producer to Consulting Producer. My involvement in Season 2 ultimately does* not reach far beyond story conception and scripts. A little more involved in the beginning, and a little less towards the end.
However, you should be pleased to know that the gaps I have left are being filled by the same amazing artists, writers and directors who brought you Season 1. I’m certain the show will be as entertaining as ever, though perhaps in a slightly different way.
Here's some further info from Equestria Daily, to prove this isn't the end of the world:
1) The most important thing to remember was that Lauren stepped down HERSELF. She was not fired. Hasbro did not ask her to leave. Please keep that in mind.
2) Since posting the original letter, Lauren Faust has made a clarification. As reported by Equestria Daily:
"*clarification: Story concepts and writers' meetings were completed several weeks ago, so my role is complete. I am not currently working on this show in any capacity at this time. Sorry for the confusion. While I'm at it, folks are asking if I left to work on another show. This is not the case. I had no other projects in the works when I stepped down."
Source here.
3) Information indicates a couple of things. Lauren was still a driving force behind the story-boarding and episode creation portion of Season 2.
4) Equestria Daily has additional Pony sources indicating that Lauren's stepping down was a decision based on time constraints, done amicably, and that all the pre-production stuff has had Lauren's hand in it. She is STILL going to be credited as a consulting producer. That means she consulted, guys.
I really don't want this to get wanky or whiny. Yes, Lauren created the show. But you have to remember that a lot of other people have been working on it. Equestria Daily has had interviews with some animators and the musician who does the music. All of these people also help to make pony what it is. With season two still being under the purview of Lauren, although with her in a lesser role, there's really no reason to panic. From what I've read from directors, animators, musicians, and voice actors working on the show, everyone's really dedicated and passionate about the show. I think we can give them the benefit of the doubt that Season 2 will be good.
And, if worse comes to worse, well, we got 26 episodes of great stuff. And feel free too have balanced, reasonable discussion about why I'm a silly optimist who lives in a land of magical unicorns in the comments.
Also feel free to send me to a land of magical unicorns :3.
ETA: Merged thoms original post, got a little more editorial.
