What WAS that movie?
So like I've been watching some 80s movies recently and it's caused me to remember bits and pieces of this movie I saw once but don't remember the name at all.

There was this maze you had to pass through, with, like, circular saws and shit? And if you passed through, supposedly you could be freed from jail or somesuch.

Well, I remember that and this character, I think, did succeed and he said "I thought you'd let me go", only to be told by the monarch/king/head honcho, "I lied!"

Does this jog anyone else's memory at all?

ETA: [info]anarchicq found it! It's Spacehunter: Adventures in the Forbidden Zone. :)

Space Hunter: Adventures in the Forbidden Zone? Maybe?
There's a section with a 'maze' full of death traps that Molly Ringwald has to go through. And it sounds like something that would happen in that hilariously bad movie.

Huh. Thing is, it had a more ... I dunno, industrial-ish vibe to it? In fact I mistook it for a scene in Beastmaster originally, but I've re-watched Beastmaster recently, heh, and no flames-dodging or saw-dodging.

Spacehunter's second half is like a third rate Thunderdome.
...wait, was it Beyond Thunderdom?

I WIN!

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0086346/quotes

Overdog: [Nicki has survived The Game, a maze full of lethal hazards] Congratulations!, you made it through!
Overdog: You have a very enviable life force, a life force you're going to share with me.
Nicki: But... you said if I made it through, I'm free.
[There is a pause, and the Overdog grins evilly]
Overdog: I lied, nobody goes free! Chemist, prepare the Fusion Tube!

Lulz I watched it and the maze thing was way less epic than I remember it being. Still, fun to see it again even if it was a horrendously bad movie overall. :P

I never saw that movie, but back in the day my then-boyfriend had a huge poster of it on his wall.

(I'm not sure he actually sat all the way through it either, he just liked cheesy posters and such.)

Oh, is that a bad movie. My mother and I still mock my father for renting it many years ago. He used to have a great talent for picking the worst movies to rent.

Update: Re-watched it, had to start skipping scenes, it was that hokey. But I got to re-watch the maze! :P

Well, should you have a burning desire to watch more bad movies, do try "Star Crash." (It's one of David Hasselhoff's career highlights!)

Why am I thinking of Running Man?

Because Arnie + "I thought you said you'd kill me last!" "I LIED." *drop*

(Though the second quote is from Commando. See, all of that bad movie watching paid off for more than just arguing about Stephen King.)
