Anne Frank: Disneyfied (Not really)
Those of you who follow The Nostalgia Chick's work will no doubt be familiar with the inexplicably popular fake "Disney's Anne Frank" poster that popped up in her "Top Five LEAST Awful Disney Sequels" review. (Cinderella III: A Stitch In Time was #1, BTW)

For those not familiar, here's the poster by (defacto Channel Awesome house artist) Andrew Dickman.

Well, that popularity has spread to TV Tropes. Where an entire page has been created for this non-existent animated film, complete with reviews and spoiler tags.

Behold.

Personally, I can't wait until someone who doesn't realize this is a joke stumbles upon the page and goes ballistic.

There's already some ridiculousness in the discussion page.

I am for deletion. It's bad for the reputation of the wiki if there are fictional works mentioned in one comedic review here.

I don't think anything else could beat out TVTropes' reputation of "OH GOD DON'T CLICK IT WILL EAT YOUR ENTIRE DAY."

I'm a little bummed that more people aren't making the connect between that joke and Pocahontas, since that was the original issue...Disney didn't bury Pocahontas even though it is ohmygodsoracist (seriously, I tried to watch it the other day and I made it through like 15 minutes before my nostalgia rose-tinted glasses exploded).

Well... at least what Pocahontas the movie got me to do was have an interest in Pocahontas the novel? And then be utterly baffled how totally different they both were? And probably started my career of complaining noisily about book vs. movie in general?

And then there was James Cameron's remake IN SPAAACE!

There are also parallels with Don Bluth's Anastasia, which takes comparable liberties with the Russian Revolution; although Bluth long since took his leave of Disney, his work is very much in the mold of the Mouse.

I'm sitting firmly on my urge to explain to them the difference between mocking a heinous tragedy and mocking the lighter/softer/"family friendly" version of events that an entertainment company might create.

I'm willing to bet internet cake that some of the more humorless of those commenting are from the Other Wiki.

Honestly, when I think of Pocahontas, all I think of is Meeko (I've loved raccoons since I was born, the movie came out when I was five, obvs I was focusing on that), and this Text From Last Night.

The worst thing to happen to TV Tropes was people taking it too goddamn seriously, IMO. This weird drive by some Tropers to turn into like some fannish version of Wikipedia is lulzy and strange.

That, and the rabid shippers in various fandoms ruling certain pages with an iron fist and starting bullshit edit wars with people (CloTi shippers in FF7 fandom, I'm looking at you). Slytherfen are pretty annoying about that too.

Yeah... we've already made asses of ourselves on Twitter over it. (Myself and some friends, not the Royal We.) In our defense, Making Light posted the link without explanation. I trusted you, TV Tropes!! *sob*

This needs to be brought to the attention of Snopes.com; it seems thoroughly worthy of enshrinement in their The Repository Of Lost Legends.

Those are some excellent entries!

One of my favorites:

The Cameo: Tim Curry's brief yet memorable performance as Winston
Churchill in the break dancing scene with Franklin D. Roosevelt.

Prince as Kaiser Billy's singing dog in "I Used to be Ze Bad Guy".

Will Smith as Jackie Robinson and Christopher Lee as (an unnamed and faceless) Adolf Hitler.

The scary part is that there's Toontown precedent for a dancing (or at least ambulatory) FDR; check out his appearance in this 1933 cartoon starring Oswald the Lucky Rabbit, who originated as a Disney character; the relevant scene begins at 5:00.

The Nazi top brass, Churchill, Roosevelt and Stalin all attend a bar mitzvah together. They even sing together ("It's Tough at the Top", a song with one of the most lamentable hip-hop verses of all time)

My god. My god. I'm only halfway down the page, and I so desperately want this movie to exist right now.

There really should be some indication RIGHT AT THE TOP that this isn't for real. I was linked to it from outside, and wasn't 100% certain until I got to the end.

I recently saw someone get really angry at how "vile" and malicious it was for people to play along with the idea that Inspector Spacetime is a real show, so I'm not surprised. (Hey, maybe it's the same person.)

That page is glorious. Of course things like that make me think, and when my imagination gets started it doesn't stop. Now I'm imagining an alternate universe where this happened, and was a success leading to the 'Disney Historical Fuck-Up' franchise. Why does my brain do this to me?

As a result in the growth in our world progress, we now are able to go anywhere we wish, for a reasonable price too. Some do it to make a profit, other just like to travel for no apparent reason. Do we really need a reason? Why not just travel without a cause. It can only bring joy to those who have learned to appreciate the moment.
