Adults Should Read Adult Books

At least all the comments seem to be calling them out on it?

Honestly, I read books for entertainment. To have fun. Sure, giant man children with chain swords aren't something likely to be on my reading list at school, but I have fun reading it. That goes for anything you read. Have fun reading it.

There were a few in agreement, sadly. This also made ONTD and there is a huge thread in which several people agree with him and basically say that YA/kids fiction has little to no value. I just... yeah.

Judging by the standard of reading comprehension and writing that I see whenever I venture into that community, I'd say that is rather ironic.

Even when I'm reading for analysis, that doesn't rule out YA fiction. YA novels can be productively read for storytelling craft (because, c'mon, storytelling/plot/character skills are storytelling/plot/character skills, whether they're aimed at teen/popular audiences or the "literary" crowd), from a cultural-studies perspective, looking for influences and parallels, trying to see how many different and bizarre ways characters and events can be interpreted...

That's weird. I ordered Ciaphas Cain: Hero of the Imperium just a few days ago.

Cain is probably one of the people I like the least, but it seems to be strongly taste-based. I've always been a bigger fan of space marines, and I'm particularly fond of the Horus Heresy books.

I just want to see if it's really Jeeves meets 40K, which is the impression I get.
