Who is Elminster?

The Uber Gary-Stu of the Forgotten Realms D&D setting. Can do anything (literally) even if it goes against his stated stats, the archetypical Old Plain Wizard Who Gets All the Hotties, bestest buddy of the Goddess of Magic, etc. ad naseaum.

It's Ed Greenwood's fault. I like other writers' Elminsters better. Actually, that's probably true of most of Ed's fiction writing. Painful stuff.

Word to that. He may be a really nice guy, has some really neat ideas, but he can't make them work in a novel for some reason.

One of his players who posts on the Candlekeep forum told Winterfox she should take down my review of "Elminster in Hell" because it was libelous.

... Wow. That's... eegh.

I've read his stuff. I like his setting, hate his novels. End of story.

(Psst, read Elaine Cunningham instead!)

I do. She collaborated with Greenwood for City of Splendors; it's out the 24th of this month.

I'll probably read it against my better judgement.

Hmm, I think they would get along famously instead of deathmatching it. ;-)

Elminster would school Granny, but it's unlikely they'd fight. They'd sit down over a pot of Lhao's tea and chew the fat.

Granny Weatherwax, duh. She's like Batman.

I don't think she has a cape, actually.

And while her hat is pointy, I'm fairly sure it lacks ears.

Tiffany gave her a cape in Hat Full of Sky, actually.

You're not allowed to answer with just "yes," damn it! I can't retort to "yes!"

Or, wait...

NO!

Ha. I showed you and your one-wording self.

She makes her own hats. You don't need ears when you're a hat made by Granny Weatherwax.

That would be an insult to hats everywhere.

Also, your mom.
