Fandom Lounge's Journal - Day

8:41AM - My dear old friend Fr. Amorth
I see that the charming nutcase Fr. Amorth got introduced to Fandom Lounge over the weekend, but that's only the tip of the iceberg. For example, he's not the Chief Exorcist of Rome. He and his pals just call himself that, and it got picked up by the media. He doesn't believe that the Catholic Church's official Rite of Exorcism works, because Vatican II wrecked it, and he alone performs the right rituals to banish demons. He's been sort of grandfather-claused by the diocese of Rome, to be ignored until he dies.
Coming from very conservative Catholics who believe in exorcism, but not in Fr. Amorth: He's Baaaaaa-aack says Jimmy Akin, a conservative Catholic blogger. (And there's actually wank in the comments from Amorth fans, though it's probably not comprehensible to the average reader. Though the bits about how Harry Potter leads to darkness are probably familiar enough.)
And for extra amusement, Canon Lawyer Ed Peters reviews Amorth's book: "Or again, he advises that regurgitated or “materialized” objects be thrown into a river or the sewer, but never “into the toilet or sink; when this happens, often the entire house is flooded or every drain becomes plugged.” (p. 138). I can imagine."
9:03PM - BANWATCH 2006
Hi, all. I'm trying to keep a reasonable timeline of the Birthday Bannings going in my journal, but I'm a mere mortal and have to sleep sometime, so your contributions would be appreciated.
9:17PM - How much do you think those pics went for?
Does anyone else get the vast majority of their interesting news from either JF or Cleolinda? Or is that just me?
No really, Suri Cruise exists.
From the artcile:
That picture is a far cry from one taken of Ms Holmes this week, showing her looking bleary-eyed and frazzled.
Because every mother of a five-month old I know is looking bright-eyed and bushy tailed. Lord.
