6:54AM - Kiwi!
I was liked to this seven times today, so I decided to just share it here too:
A kiwi reaches for his dreams :(.
(I started sniffling near the tinkly music.)
12:45PM - Sort of Fannish Related . . .
. . . since so many fen have cats, and Pinky did attend her first Media*West this year.
Pinky is my first cat -- I've had dogs most of my life -- and I'm just wondering when I should consider adding a second cat to the home.
I worry that I'm not providing Pinky with enough recreation time, and thought another cat (especially one that needs a home) might help in that regard, as well as giving her a chance for more cat socialization. (In the year-and-a-half she's been with me, I've spoiled her. While she definitely wants to be an alpha, I don't let her get that far.)
Yes, I know there's a lot of info out on the web, but I tend to trust fellow fen's first-hand knowledge rather than posting randomly as some anonymous on an LJ website.

I'd like to thank you all for your advice and opinions on getting a second cat for Pinky. I didn't realize that cats weren't the social animals that dogs are. Because of whatever abuse she suffered as a young kitten (when she wandered into the basement of my friends' 18th century farmhouse, she was scrawny and malnourished), I've learned that she's afraid of men, the sound of soda can pop-tops and being struck with a stick (she originally thought I was going to attack her with that stick with the feather on the end, now it's her favourite toy).
So, she's a very needy kitty as far as affection is concerned -- I don't think there's enough love in the world for her. That's why I was worried that a companion might be a good idea.
I was going to avoid visiting my friends' farm for the holidays (just 'cause the drive is so long), but now I think I'll go. They have three cats and a dog (the three cats Pinky is familiar with, though she was the odd one out in the bonding of the foursome). I'll watch her reaction with her former housemates carefully, and make an informed decision based on that.

Hello, smart fen and their loved ones! I have a question for you: is there a simple way to bypass ABC.com's Americans-only policy re:watching full episodes of their shows online? I have a friend who needs her Grey's Anatomy fix badly, and she can't wait for the torrents to hit the web the day after.
I know there's a series of websites that let you change your IP to a fake one, but is there a way to make sure to get a fake IP that the ABC site will recognize as one from the US?
