9:50AM - I hope this is not too out of place...
... if it is, please feel free to delete, mods.
I've been playing World of Warcraft for a few months now (my main is a 67 orc hunter, with a 32 b elf paladin and a 16 undead warlock for alts), and I've been stuck on a PvP server with most of my RL friends. This has been a problem as I hate PvP with every bone in my body (give me a nice quiet bunch of mobs that target my pet any day). However, my friends recently have been thinking about shifting to a PvE server.
Initially, I suggested they go to Nordrassil, seeing as I remembered there being a wanka guild there. However, I just posted to that community only to find that the guild is pretty much dead. OH NOEZ. ;_; So much for my brilliant notions of finding a guild at long last.
However, I don't want to give up the notion of playing with some wankas just yet. So I thought I'd ask here who's playing Horde on PvE servers, and which servers you're all on. If there's a server that has several wankas on who'd be willing to have some huntard show up and go pew pew along with them, I might see if I can get my friends to shift servers to there (unless they've already moved, in which case... whoops. >.>)
How about it, gang? Are there any groups of wankas still hanging around on the same server? Or am I pretty much doomed and should just take the luck of my friends' PvE draw?
11:48AM - A question for my fellow fen:
moonlightfans and moonlightfans.com: Real fan or corporate shill?
Moonlight is a new vampire detective show coming to CBS this fall. Given that it stars Jason Dohring (Logan Echolls, Veronica Mars) and Sophie Myles ("The Girl in the Fireplace", Doctor Who), it's not *too* surprising that there's a fanbase before the show airs.
Except that the domain name moonlightfans.com was purchased before those cast additions were announced.
Except that the site is run by someone named "Patrick" with no apparent history in fandom. And no LJ friends.
On the one hand, I like that PR companies are recognizing that the fan base is something they should be courting. On the other hand, we're a community, not just a bunch of anonymous people with funny names. Don't leech off the community if you can't even be bothered to find out who we are.
Or possibly I'm wrong and there's a Patrick in fandom who's a big fan of Alex O'Loughlin (who plays the main character on Moonlight and is the only part that hasn't been recast recently) and decided to make his first jump into fandom be this website.
And has insider information that isn't even in the Hollywood Reporter yet.
Opinions?
ETA: Patrick has emailed me and requested that I tell you that he is "not associated with the show." (He would have posted himself, but it looks like anon comments are disabled.)
11:03PM - The purges will continue until morale improves.
Apparently ponderosa121 has had her journal deleted/suspended for some of her fanart depicting underage characters in sexual activities.
Another user by the name of elaboration has also had their journal deleted/suspended. (No reason is known at this time.)
Edit: LJ has become kind of slow and imaginarycircus has more on the purgings.
Edit II: ponderosa speaks, sharing the message she got from LJ Abuse.
Edit III: Over in
clairvoyantwank,
frequentmouse reports that the fight has already been taken to the comments on the most recent news post. For easy wank viewing, click here.
Edit IV: Now in
fandom_wank! Strikethrough Two: Electric Boogaloo.
