Fandom Lounge's Journal - Day

8:00PM

I'm working as a research intern on a book (at this point proposal) considering the legitimacy of sex addiction as a diagnosis. As part of my prep work, I read (and took) the official Sex Addiction Screening Test. While reading some of the questions ("Do you spend too much time online for sexual purposes?" "Have you regularly purchased romantic novels or sexually explicit magazines?" "Have you spent considerable time surfing pornography online?"), I hit [info]brown_betty with an idea: How would fandom score?

So I task you, fandom_lounge, with letting me know. Is fandom a nest of deviants hiding at the Piccadilly Theater talking to their zombie victims? Do we give PeeWee Herman a run for his money?

Numerical scores and/or responses of other possible conditions are very helpful, though clearly you may be as vague and private as you wish. I do ask that you keep your answers as honest as possible, because if the results are interesting enough I may link my boss to this. (I would forward it for the sole purpose of shits and giggles. None of this would be actual, legitimate "for use" research.)

And in the interest of full disclosure, I scored a 5 and have "a profile consistent with women who struggle with sexually compulsive behavior," though mostly because I've been single (and without sex) for over a year.

Cross-posted to my LJ and IJ.
