1:42AM - Harry Potter Fic Recs?

For some reason, I'm really in the mood to read some well-written Harry Potter fanfic but I have no idea where to start. I know that's a really broad field, so I'll try to narrow it down a bit.

Remus is cool. Tonks is great. I like Sirius a lot. Luna is very cool! Weasleys are awesome. I even like Snape after Deathly Hallows (well, sort of). Marauders-era stuff is cool. I read one fic about Bellatrix and Narcissa and Andromeda growing up that I liked a lot. Harmonians sort of scare me.

That being said I don't really ship anyone (I know, I know, I fail at being a fan.) and I'll read pretty much anything if people are in character and it's reasonably believable within canon or a good AU, so just post whatever.

Thank you very much in advance!

P.S. Just so this isn't completely one-sided, here's a fic rec for you! I really enjoyed this series of fics, which starts with End of the Line. Read it!

Current mood: Caffeinated

11:32AM - Anonymous vs. Scientology: now also available in French

The attack on the Church of Scientology by 4chan has now been reported in the French newspaper Le Monde (article in French).

5:15PM - False alarm.

The writer's strike appears to be over-- or, at least, very close to it!

ETA: Oops, nevermind. Eisner != source of all knowledge and wisdom, apparently. More on this as it develops.

ETA2: Is it just me or is it getting wanky in here? May have to move this shortly. (Jeeze that was quick, too.)

5:49PM - Bad news, everybody!

Val Kilmer replaces Will Arnett as the voice of K.I.T.T. in the new Knight Rider.

Apparently, the people at General Motors who've long been signing Arnett's paychecks to be the voice of GMC Trucks have suddenly become aware that the revived Knight Rider is essentially a co-production between NBC and rival Ford and have politely asked their spokesman to step away from the project.

6:35PM - Captain Tighty-pants to the rescue!

(That is what people call Captain Mal from Firefly, right? I must admit, I am a heathen who is not a fan.)

Taken from Shakesville:

Nathan Fillion, or Captain Malcolm 'Mal' Reynolds from Firefly, has partnered with author PJ Haarsma to start a foundation called Kids Need To Read (KNTR).
KNTR has this as its mission statement:

* To purchase books by raising funds through auctions, sales of merchandise and other available means
* To provide books to libraries, schools and other institutions in need
* To provide books to low income children through established institutions
* To foster a love for reading in all children
* To encourage reading among reluctant readers
* To encourage the discovery of excellent, lesser known books
* To look for new ideas to encourage childhood literacy and make those ideas known

They're doing fundraising either through direct donations or through auctions. I only heard about it today, so we've missed the auction for River's necklace, but they plan to do more auctions later with other Firefly merchandise.
