Guys, I need comic books recs.
Okay, quick background about Alyanumbers and Comics: I spent my early childhood in France, and Asterix and the Smurfs were among the first things I ever read. We brought a big collection with us when we moved back home, and along the years it grew, and I read other stuff in school libraries, but it was almost always all Franco-Belgian stuff. So, long story short, I never got into Superhero/American-style comics.
But the more I read about them, the more I suspect I'd enjoy them. So, I need recs, but keep in mind I'm used to character-oriented stuff with lots of humour, and pretty art is really important to me.
Comics are nearly impossible to find, in English, at reasonable prices in Egypt, so I'm going to try and stock up on a few good titles on my summer trip. I'll be in Ukraine, Czech Republic, then Germany (and will probably spend a good portion of time in Amsterdam's Schiphol Airport), so I also need stuff that'll be relatively easy to find. And by the way, anyone know of good comic stores in Kiev, Prague, Frankfurt or Munich?

ETA: Stuff that includes canon gay, lesbian or bisexual characters is a major plus! There's a sad lack of those in my reading material, in general.
