12:44AM - Captain Blood: Recycled IN SPACE!

L.A. Times: 'Captain Blood' in space? Think 'Treasure Planet' or (gulp) 'Ice Pirates'

When you think of classic pirate films, right at the top of the list is Captain Blood, which was released right after Christmas Day 1935 and captured the imagination of America. The film was nominated for five Oscars, including best picture and best director for Michael Curtiz (who would later win the trophy for "Casablanca"), and it made a star of first-time leading man Errol Flynn.

It's a bit risky tampering with such esteemed Hollywood history, but that's just what's happening with talk of a remake.

Oh, and it's going to be set in outer space.
The N.Y. Times has a cuter title: In Space, No One Can Hear You Say ‘Arrrrrrr’
Warner Brothers has determined that what its classic 1935 swashbuckler “Captain Blood” needed was a trip to outer space. Variety reports that the studio is preparing a remake of “Captain Blood,” which starred Errol Flynn as a British doctor turned Caribbean pirate, which will move the action off the planet earth and trade galleons for intergalactic space vessels. Michael and Peter Spierig will direct the film and John Brownlow will write it. Despite the seemingly radical change of scenery, Bill Gerber, a producer of the new “Captain Blood,” told Variety, “There are some things you don’t mess with, and that is as classic a movie storyline as you will ever find.”
Looks like TVTropes is going to have a new example for its Recycled IN SPACE! page.

Current mood: *thud*

7:18AM - wherefore art thou LJ?

Is anyone else still having a problem with LJ? I was able to connect to it for about fifteen minutes yesterday, but since then it's been dead to me. I've tried it from a different PC too, and still nothing.

Current mood: Suicidal

2:14PM - Horror Rec Time!

In this rec post, lets discuss HORROR!

I classify this as anything that is meant to frighten/creep/disturb the crap out of you.

Films, TV series, books, manga, games, music, art etc. From any country. Just try and say a few words about it to say what type of horror and media it is. Like 'American slasher film' or 'a gory, psychologically thrilling Swedish series' or 'a quiet and creepy Japanese film' etc.
