cleolinda ? Well, she's been having a lot of trouble with her computers lately (for details, see her LJ journal. Just read down or click on the "tribulations" tag).
Most experts theorize that her house is built on an Alabaman burial ground and they're pissed, while a minority believe that voodoo dolls are involved.
"A lot of trouble" is actually an understatement. Let me sum up:
1. Her desktop "Betsy" died.
2. She buys a new Asus desktop from Best Buy ("Camille.") Camille promptly died.
3. She gets a replacement desktop from Best Buy. Camille 1.2 dies.
4. Cleo (finally) has an emotional breakdown and accidentally breaks her MP3 player.
5. She says, "Fuck it, I'm buying a Dell laptop." Computer-savvy commentors dislike that brand, but whatever works, right? She upgrades a bit to a Dell laptop at Best Buy, which she acknowledges she can't afford but then she also couldn't afford the first computer, right?
6. You guessed it - the laptop won't boot. Same problem as the Asus computers. Dell phone-a-tech says to return it to Best Buy for a refund because it needs a new motherboard.
7. Cleo accidentally washes her cell phone. Of course.
8. Best Buy says they can't send a Geek over until Aug. 31. They're probably afraid of the Geek being swallowed up by the earth if s/he sets foot in her house or something.
I feel like perhaps we, the internets, should do something for her. I'm not sure what, but I can offer my computer expertise (though it's not that much use if I'm conveying instructions over the Internet). I'm not going to say the words "fandom whip-around!" (except I just did, oops) but, you know, if someone here works for Dell or Best Buy or the Alabama Power Company, maybe they can find some way to help a blogger out.
