2:20PM - Final Fantasy 5/V - fandom consensus?
We begin our story early 00's when Final Fantasy 4 and 5 came out on PS1 in the package deal titled "Final Fantasy Anthology" (in Europe that is). I got my grubby little hands on it because PS1 is all I had and I played FF4 for years because dayuuumn that game is tough, finished it, was happy.
Years pass. I lose my TV. I forget my PS1.
But now I have TV, I have my PS1 and I am kind of itching to play it. I'll probably play FFV anyway but I still kind of want to ask fandom_lounge..
What - in your view - is the fandom consensus on FFV?
If you've played it, how does it compare to other FF's (old school or new school) in your mind?
Did you enjoy the gameplay, the characters, the plot?
I ask because people usually - myself included - name FFVI or FFIV as their favourite old school FF's. I mean even FFIII seems to have a fandom these days! (And that game barely had characterizations!) But FFV seems a really underloved game. What gives? Is it simply not as good?
10:21PM - Contest to promote Drollerie Press
I hope this is okay to post here. *^_^*;;
I mentioned in a previous post's comments that I'm one of the authors at Drollerie Press, and I'm looking to stir up interest in our works. Until the end of this month, I'm holding a small contest to encourage people to read and review any book published by Drollerie, and to send me evidence of said review. Anyone who does so will be entered into a random drawing for a $20 gift certificate to the book vendor of their choice. We are mostly an ebook press although we do also have a small number of trade paperbacks available, and we have some SF/F, horror, romance, and general fiction to choose from, from novel length clear down to short pieces and poetry that appear in anthologies.
More details can be found on my blog here and here.
Please feel free to spread the word on this to wherever else may be appropriate. I'm looking forward to treating somebody to $20 worth of books, so the farther the word spreads, the better!
11:35PM - See if your favorite show is on this list.
Entertainment Weekly: 25 Greatest Cult TV Shows Ever
''Veronica Mars,'' ''Buffy,'' ''Freaks and Geeks'' -- see where your favorite off-beat show lands in our countdownIf you're expecting to see "Star Trek" or "Lost" forget it. They're not on the list. However, those omissions along with other shows missing in action produce some whining beginning with the very first comment.
