O RLY going mainstream?

NO WAI!!!
If the title of my post means nothing to you, click here and "educate" (if you want to call it that) yourself on internet nerd-dom. If you understand the context of what I'm referencing, you'll see why I'm hoping i don't get found out.

I was a bad, bad boy at work today.

More importantly though, I kept a log of it.

9:11am - After a slow start to morning, recieved an email announcing the implimentation of a new employee initiative for continuous improvement. Like a suggestion box, but more double-speak. Amused to see that our official mascot for this project is a snowy owl.

9:13 - Spit-take that we are being asked to NAME said snowy owl.

9:20 - Went to boss suggesting new name of this symbol of excellence and customer satisfaction of our multinational company should be "Orly", the name once given to my dear old budgee. Maintained straight face.

10:21 - Explained via email that ORLY can be an acronym for "Organizing our Responsibility to Learn Year-round". Boss is delighted. Forwards to naming commitee.

10:29 - Began updating resumé. Just in case.

11:45 - Found myself well ahead of my work, so photoshoped image of our mascot snowy owl to read "ORLY". Set image as desktop wallpaper. Printed out black and white copy to post on break-room wall.

1:07pm - Informed by co-worker that a) I am going to hell, and b) he has seconded nomination of Orly the Owl as our symbol of empowerment and quality.

1:56 - Co-worker mass-emails office that he likes my idea, but thinks better acronym would be "You are All Responsible to Learn Year-round". I respond "Orly!" Awaiting reply of "Yarly!"...

2:01 - There it is.

2:10 - Some middle-management Einstien writes thoughtful reply that Orly works better because "owl" starts with letter O. Resisted urge to reply "No wai!"

2:20ish - Approached by two more co-workers. Learn that something like 1/8 of local office is now in on this, and have supported nomination of Orly. Other less informed think it's just a great corporate acronym, or cute name, and add their support.

3:00 - Team meeting. Among other things, boss expresses gratitude that we have so enthusiastically embraced the spirit of the naming contest, even inventing acronyms in some cases. Management LOVES acronyms. Announces that there will be prizes for winners. Almost feel guilty. Almost.

4:30 - Quittin' time. "Orly" has 9 vote lead over "Hootie" as local office's nomination for official name of our darling mascot. National Home Office to choose winner by Wednesday. Wish me luck.

ETA: This is not me. This is a link to the brilliance that is [info]siln. Sorry for any confusion. I am simply just not cool enough to think of this.
