pondering updates on wankers
Hey, is there any news on the I'm-pregnant-with-twins-in-my-abdomen lady? It's April, which means her due date has got to be coming up pretty fast.

Oops, I missed that, sorry. Thanks for the link!

I keep feeling sorry for her, because she wants this so badly that I think she's really convinced herself of it, and that's heartbreaking. And then I remember that she wants women to carry ectopic pregnancies to term, and I get all HULK SMASH.

NY Times Magazine just did an article on El Salvador, and their abortion policy, which is terminating ectopic pregnancies is EVOL.

... what??? I can't even imagine how that could possibly be considered a good idea. Isn't it pretty much impossible to carry to term?

Yep! But the laws are such that it's fetus over woman. They had doctors saying they have to do things like use bad ultrasounders to say "It's dead, operate!"

Ugh. That shit terrifies me, man. It just terrifies me. Though I would never agree, I can at least understand why people might say that in cases where the baby is going to survive, but it makes no logical sense to kill a woman over a fetus that has no chance of surviving, no matter what you believe.

I think they decided, if it could possibly survive with tons of intensive care in hospital, then it's viable. *eyeroll*

The article was terrifying. Women who got backalley abortions and ended up in hospital are arrested for murder.

I read about that, and the women with three kids serving 30 years. Gah, makes me want to hurt something.

[shrugs] As horrible as that is, it's pretty much par for the course in Central America. Poor people + low literacy rate + hardfisted Catholic dogma traditionalism = Shitstorm.

My mom used to tell me horror stories of growing up in Honduras that could top allowing ectopic pregnancies anyday.
