Ending of Doctor Who: Doomsday
So, the Doctor saves the day, we have a highly emotional moment or three and then he turns around, and sees . . . that. I think we just figured out how he meets Martha. Or at least part of it.

Shall we all make with the poinless speculation? Wank about the the tears and stuff, or just listen to the Rose/10 shippers scream bloody murder?

The Bride is apparently some comedian lady I have never heard of, but who a lot of people seem to be in fits about. I rather liked that ending, actually.

"WHAT?"

Just when you thought the ending was going to be all depressing and emo, they thrown in a OMGWTFBRIDE?

I approve.

According to a brief Googling, she's formerly of the Royal Shakespeare Company, so she obviously has some acting ability.

Though dramatic acting is a very different thing to comedy, really.

Well, you can all count on me. I'm ready to wank about Martha ;)

Yeah, I think the bride is the segueway into Martha.

Here's where I bring teh wank - enjoy!:

I wish they'd have chosen a male companion for the Doctor this next season, because it's going to upset half the fanbase that he moves on to the next chick so soon after he and Rose had something spectacular (sure, a lot of people don't like Rose, but a lot do too). And, ya know, I think that that's a legitimate and understandable way to feel, after they've clearly strung along the romantic tension between Doctor/Rose for two seasons. I dunno, I just, think the sadness over them being parted is understandable, and it's natural not to move on to the next female companion that quickly.

If he touches Martha, she's dead. Mwahahaha!!! [/VSD of the Tardis]

Well, if the Doctor Who folk know what they're doing they'll at least give Martha a completely different personality. Otherwise the Rosefans will just go 'She's in Rose's place, doing the things Rose used to do and she's even LIKE Rose personality wise!' and then you get hatemail campaigns :(. We've had Rose, so Martha can't be Rose 2.0. It'd be boring.

Maybe Martha will be a lesbian! That should shake things up a bit and you wouldn't really have the Doctor/Companion thing so much.

That all sounds good. I could definitely deal if they differentiate her enough & don't try to have a similiar dynamic between her and the Doctor :)

They've been replacing beloved female companions who have a special relationship with the Doctor with female companions who are only marginally different from the one who came before them since Vicki first replaced Susan. I can't see them stopping now.

Just think of it as being in-character for him. At least he made an effort to say goodbye to Rose, which is way more than he usually does.

I saw some Rose/10 shippers claiming that when the Doctor asked if she were pregnant or not, this was an indication that they were shagging.

Am I the ONLY one who feels that the Doctor never loved her in a romantic sense? Instead feeling as if she were his bestfriend, even family, and one of few he could be happy keeping around? I always felt like the whole point of this season was how the occasional awkwardness between them was because she wanted more from him than he was willing to give.

[/wank]

I'm still all woobly over the tears, though.

You're not the only one. My impression was always that she was madly in love with him, but that he loved her in much the same way that he loved pretty much all of his companions, and that it made him uncomfortable whenever her crush got brought to his immediate attention but it seemed to make her happy so he didn't do anything to disabuse her of it.

And I though the Doctor asking if she was pregnant was an indication that she and Mickey had gotten back together, which annoyed me because I really like the idea of Mickey/Jake, but then it wasn't her so I'm all good. XD

I thought the same thing, particularly as he first said "you and Mickey are back together then" which was when she mentioned the baby, so it seems more logical to me that he assumed it was hers and Mickey's.

I realise there's a large subset of fandom who believe the Doctor is asexual, but I personally feel like he could be romantically involved/invested with someone, just not a companion. He's always seemed to view them more as family than love interests, IMO.

Well, all that interpretation is that the Doctor thinks that it's Mickey's kid. He hasn't been around for the last few months, he wasn't to know Jake and Mickey have been a couple...

The Doctor engineered a way to use the hole between this universe and LumicWorld to get rid of both the Cybermen and the Daleks, except that it the hole would also suck in anything on Earth that had traveled between them so he sent all the people back to that universe to keep them safe. She did her "OMG I WON'T LEAVE YOU!" thing a bit and there was some extra stuff to make her look more heroic first, but now she and her mother are in that universe with Mickey and there's no moving between universes without destroying them both. Supposedly.

Living!Pete and Living!Jackie are together and having a kid, though, with no real attention paid to how they could be very different people from the Dead!Jackie and Dead!Pete that they both know, so I don't know why they made such a huge deal out of there being no way for Rose to ever ever ever see the Doctor again without once mentioning that there is likely to be another him in that universe. For the drama, I guess. Still, it's a nice out for the fanficcers, though, and I expect we'll be seeing a lot of it here real soon.
