If this is OT/not allowed here, let me know and I'll get rid of it.

My friend is drawing fanart for ACen this year, and she needs someone to help critique her stuff. I'm doing what I can, but it would help to have the expertise of someone who's been doing fanart at an anime con, 'cause I know next to nothing about cons except that they're fun and expensive.

Also, does anyone know of any places on LJ where she could ask?

Her deviantArt gallery is here.

I have no experience with fanart/anime, but one thing that I noticed might help your friend is thinking more about the composition of her pictures. A lot of them look like she started and ran out of paper at the subject's knees, and that makes it look unintentional and thus less polished and cramped. One thing a professor of mine used to demand was drawing a frame within the boundaries of a sketchpad to force us to think about what was going to fit in there before we started. I hated it at the time, but I find it really does help me now, and if it turns out I needed a leetle beet more space, I have it available.

You're right, I didn't notice that (it's part of the reason I'm trying to get outside opinions--I see her stuff a lot, so I don't notice stuff like that at first. ^^;;).

THanks a lot, I'll pass it along to her.

I'm telophase over at DA, and I'll try to get by and crit a few pieces. (I'm desperately trying to procrastinate on anime stuff I have to do for A-Kon, so it'll come in handy. :) If I get distracted by something shiny forget to drop by, just have her drop me a note or comment on my DA page.
