Sugartits ([info]sugartits) wrote in [info]fandom_lounge,
I'll be honest and admit that I have a LJToys account, and I went through about a month of using it and checking it every day. I don't want to break any jurisimprudence laws, but it was more curiosity on my part (it was a social experiment!!1!). I didn't keep tabs on who checked LJ how often or anything, because I don't really care about other people's LJ habits. But it was fun to see exactly what features it offered and how the information was gathered and stuff.

I don't use it anymore, though. I changed my moodtheme back and took the image out of my userinfo because once I saw its capabilities and such it kind of got boring to me. XD I don't really care if someone finds my LJ through a community or whatever, so I stopped using it. (It was surprising to see how many years-old community posts people still looked at, though.)

In my experience, most of the people I know who used it fall into one of two groups: the first are people who are curious about it, use it a bit, and then kind of give up because it's not that interesting; and then there are the people who are paranoid or have some reason(s) to track people's IPs. Most of my experience has been with the first sort.

As for what I think... I don't really mind. People log my IP when I post comments, or visit websites, and the internet really isn't a private place. You leave an IP trail no matter what you do, unless you go to great lengths not to. Most people who use LJToys won't use it for anything sinister, and the people who would would be able to get that information without it, anyway.
