For the Trekkie who has everything...
The latest volley in the ongoing "Who's geekier, Trekkies or Furries?" war.

An apartment in England is a Star Trek fan's dream come true - and it's for sale! Re: the geek war, I think the Trekkies are winning. ;)

I actually can't wait to see if Wil Wheaton says anything about this on his blog.

(Seriously -- he's actually got an interesting perspective on the whole Trek phenomena and having been in it...he's doing some TNG recaps for a web site, and in a recent recap he had a paragraph that effectively said, "Okay -- you know, yes, I've been hearing about all the 'Wesley Crusher must die' stuff for years, and yeah, it kinda hurt -- but I just watched the way they have Wesley in this episode, and you know what? I totally get it now.")

Would you happen to have a link to that website? I'd love to read the recaps.

His recaps are all here. It looks like he's only done a few so far, but it seeks to be an ongoing thing.

His own blog is here right now -- he also posts links to where he has other stuff -- he writes a lot, and recently recapped a true story for the SUICIDE GIRLS web site where William Shatner insulted him when he was a 16-year-old child actor, and Gene Rodenberry called Shatner and made him apologize -- and he also writes on his blog about some really neat stuff that happens with his two kids. (He married a woman who already had two young boys, and the boys are teenagers now and he has been very patiently training them to be geeks. Sometimes he talks about just how nerdy they all are, and I'm sitting there thinking, "oh, you all would SO be the kind of guy I'd have gone for in high school.")

Wil is great! Back when I was into TNG it was highly uncool to like him, but I did anyways. I've always had a thing for geeks, and I thought he was so cute. (I still think he is, and I got all flustered when I saw him at a con in Pasadena a few years ago.) I always wanted to attend Starfleet Academy, so much cooler than Hogwarts even...*g*

I loved him too! And oh, my, god is he funny. He's also a really great writer, Gordie.

I think Wesley qualifies as my first real telly crush, and I never realized that he might be anything but adorable and omg!smart. And then I crushed on Wil, and that was all before the times of the net, so I never found out terribly much about him (plus I didn't read English very well...). But then I saw Stand by me, and man, the kids there just rocked! So, yeah, that's my Wil Wheaton story...

I've always loved Wil Wheaton madly, ever since he was on TNG, which always made me feel kinda bad about how much I really wanted someone to gut Wesley Crusher and hang him from the warp core to bleed out.

Oh, I loved Wesley just as much. I guess I was just too young to realize how much of a pain in the backside sometimes...

I really like the ones with his kids -- the most recent one was when one of his kids responded to something he said by doing a Mr. Horse imitation ("No sir, I don't like it.") and his immediate thought was, "Oh, shit, the kid found the Ren and Stimpy stash -- my wife is going to kill me."

Those recaps are made of so much win it's not even funny.

As though I didn't have enough reasons to love Wil.

I have never seen a Star Trek episode, but after reading those recaps I have a sudden urge to watch TNG. Who would've thought Wesley Crusher could draw in fans? ;)

I loved how they stopped captioning when they came to the picture of the guy. It was like even the website people were going "There are NO WORDS."

Kirk was divorced. Picard was divorced. It's the scope of engagement between a man and his ship or appartment that does it.

I think this is the one where he doesn’t have a bed. One there’s no room and two, he’s got a bad back and sleeps on the floor. There weren’t any pictures in my paper yesterday.

It’s too Next Generation for my taste.

Man, don't tell me that apartment is STILL for sale! O.O

Honestly, it looks kinda cool, but it doesn't look very comfortable. It looks pretty cramped.

You certainly can't get more bachelor than that.

I'll join you in exile then, because my first reaction was "OMGCOOL!"

Then again, I did go to the prom with a guy who wore a light saber replica on his belt and would have gone full Jedi robes if the school had allowed him, so my concept of cool is most likely a little off. ; P (Ah, that was a star-crossed romance - he was a Star Wars freak, I was a Trekkie - no wonder it never worked out.)

I saw this guy on TV a couple years ago! He had a new wife or girlfriend at that point, and she didn't seem quite on board with the whole living-on-the-Enterprise thing. I don't blame her, considering how much money he's thrown into it. Something tells me they're not together anymore...
