Buffy star's joy at Torchwood job
Oh boy... here comes the wank and the crossover badfic!

Buffy star's joy at Torchwood job

Former Buffy star James Marsters and ex-Neighbours actor Alan Dale have spoken of their excitement at starring in the BBC TV series Torchwood.

Marsters, who played Spike in Buffy the Vampire Slayer, said he was "a big fan" of the Doctor Who spin-off.

And Dale, who used to play Jim Robinson in Neighbours and has recently been in The OC and Ugly Betty in the US, said he was "thrilled" to be in the
show.

Filming for the new Torchwood series is currently under way in Cardiff.

The alien-chasing series, starring John Barrowman and Eve Myles, is expected to be shown in 2008 and Marsters is set to guest star in the first episode.

The actor, who starred as a goth vampire in both the cult US series Buffy and its spin-off Angel, said he was "really excited" about his character.

"I can't say too much about him, except he is naughty and a bit of a psychopath," he said.

"I am a huge fan of Doctor Who and Torchwood so it was me who knocked on their door."

And Dale, who has also appeared in Lost and The West Wing, said he was delighted to be back in the UK. "I am thrilled to be working on Torchwood - I am a huge fan of British television drama."

The cast will also be joined by Freema Agyeman who has been travelling in the tardis as David Tennant's assistant Martha Jones in the last series of
Doctor Who.

Agyeman said it was "a huge new challenge" and she could not wait to start filming.

Created by Russell T Davies, the first series of Torchwood introduced a team of investigators based at a secret headquarters in Cardiff Bay and also
featured Burn Gorman, Naoko Mori and Gareth David-Lloyd.

I predict wank. In multiple senses.

See, I knew about James Marsters, and I knew about Freema Agyeman, but for some reason I'd never put the two together before, and suddenly I am overwhelmed by the idea of Spike/Martha. With a bit of Toshiko on the side.

I predict you're right. Also, I'll be in my bunk.

I am weirdly fascinated by Spike/Martha.

...Oh fuck, Martha in the Buffyverse. She'd so get called as Slayer in the last episode.

= UNBEARABLE HOTNESS. I watched Smile Time recently and was distracted from puppet antics by "during the year that never was Martha totally hooked up with Nina. And lo, it was hot."

Martha/Faith OMG!

This has no basis in characterization. It has basis only in HOT.

I read a deeply questionable Buffy / Faction Paradox crossover one time which came very close to having Giles / Sarah Jane.

OMFG I had never thought of that ever before but GILES/SARAH JANE OTP!!!

I can't decide if that's even better than my Captain Jack / Sarah Jane OTP that I've got going on or not.

Where Willow was suddenly unaired-pilot-Willow and couldn't understand why nobody recognized her? I can't remember the characterization at all, and I think I gave up on the plot after several chapters and just skimmed, but I had deep love for the general idea.

That's the one - quite a clever transposition of one of the themes of Interference. However, two major problems:

- the author obviously didn't get the concept of Faction Paradox at all;
- the author really shouldn't have been writing season 4 Buffyfic if they had problems with even saying the word "lesbian".

Note to self: must get icon saying "Lawrence Miles is my godfather now".

Here’s what he had to say about Marsters’ second-season guest spot: “There’s a scene between he and Jack when they first meet, all I’ll say is, this scene is so hot, so horny, so violent, that all the fans who watch it are going to [er, appreciate it greatly].”
