LJ down, X-Files fic.
Is LJ down? ARGH. I need to check my FL urgently to procrastinate before I go to bed, and it won't let me! And status.livejournal.org isn't working either!

EDIT: Per status.livejournal.org, which FINALLY works: LiveJournal is down. There has been a power outage at our data center. We are working as quickly as possible to restore service.

...sigh, to bed.

Also, anyone know what happened to fanfix.com? Back when I was a wee one in my first fandoms, I read an X-Files/SW crossover fic that I absolutely adored, and I saw the X-Files today, and OMG! The love resurged, and I wanted to read it again. The X-Files/SW crossover fic was Scully/Luke, and the first part dragged Scully and Mulder into the Millennium Falcon, and then in the second part they came to Earth, and Luke and Scully had crabs (the edible kind) in Maryland. And then there was tragic Jedi mindwiping. Just in case, you know, it's elsewhere...I wanted to read it again to see if it was still good.

Man, I feel old...I think I was in the eighth grade when I read those! That was pre-movie!
EDIT AGAIN even though I should be in bed: [info]jaina provides: the aptly named X-Jedi and X-Jedi 2. Gracias!

Just posting with another XF icon to ask if you've ever heard about the 44-chapter fic that was an X-Files/The Stand crossover. That was a really good one, and I think the author even included a baked fish recipe.

And a scene where Scully is idly riding along in a truck and wondering why the theme song to The Banana Splits is stuck in her head.

No...actually I don't even know The Stand. Is it something I should watch? What is it?

The Stand is a Stephen King novel that opens with a genetically-altered strain of the flu escaping from U.S. military labs. They'd been working on it as a germ warfare weapon; it had a 99% mortality rate. It escapes from a government research center at the very start of the book, and the first half of the book is basically about 99% of the population dying off and how the country copes with that; the second half is about the 1% leftover, and it shifts to a more supernatural kind of thing (half of the survivors start having dreams about a kindly 103 year old woman named Abigail Freemantle telling them all to move to Boulder, Colorado, and the other half start having dreams about a mean dude named Randall telling them to move to Las Vegas; there are strong apocalyptic Good-vs-evil paralells breaking out here).

There was a TV movie based on it, but I wasn't too thrilled with it; I found the book better.
