Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
I hope this is not too out of place...
... if it is, please feel free to delete, mods.

I've been playing World of Warcraft for a few months now (my main is a 67 orc hunter, with a 32 b elf paladin and a 16 undead warlock for alts), and I've been stuck on a PvP server with most of my RL friends. This has been a problem as I hate PvP with every bone in my body (give me a nice quiet bunch of mobs that target my pet any day). However, my friends recently have been thinking about shifting to a PvE server.

Initially, I suggested they go to Nordrassil, seeing as I remembered there being a wanka guild there. However, I just posted to that community only to find that the guild is pretty much dead. OH NOEZ. ;_; So much for my brilliant notions of finding a guild at long last.

However, I don't want to give up the notion of playing with some wankas just yet. So I thought I'd ask here who's playing Horde on PvE servers, and which servers you're all on. If there's a server that has several wankas on who'd be willing to have some huntard show up and go pew pew along with them, I might see if I can get my friends to shift servers to there (unless they've already moved, in which case... whoops. >.>)

How about it, gang? Are there any groups of wankas still hanging around on the same server? Or am I pretty much doomed and should just take the luck of my friends' PvE draw?

RP Server, Kirin Tor (US)
Horde and Alliance
Shandelzare, Garukaa, Laurelei, (very rarely) Airesh.

What might be an interesting thought is something I saw another group of forum-goes do, which is create on every server where there are people from fandom wank, a 'fandomwank' channel (or a journalfen channel, I don't discriminate) or something. It's as easy as typing /join fandomwank and you can have as many or as few people in the channel. Spread it across multiple servers, see who's around.

(PS, you wrote me awesome pronz. *love*)

OMG. it's you! *hugs* I wanted to tell you that that bit of Illidan/Kael you wrote for Springking was very hawt, and that your icon was adorable. :-D

Sadly, I'm not much of an RP player, at least not for a game like WoW... I'm having enough trouble communicating as it is ("So wait, did you want me to trap the orance circle or the blue square?"); having to role play it out would probably kill me. :-( ("Tell me, brave warrior, the meanings of these strange markings you have placed on the ARGH ARGH OH GOD HEAL PLZ")

So you can have a chat channel that spans across multiple servers (ie I can be on Detheroc and chat with someone on Kirin Tor?) Or am I misunderstanding you?

People don't usually roleplay party instructions. They're still very straightforward. Some people do rp in /say (we tend to on breaks, or before runs start, usually with slightly silly results).

Sorry, I must have been confusing. You can have the channels on any server you want (hence server-spanning) but the server on each channel is separate (also, separate on both sites).

I'm glad you liked it! ^_^

Most RP is in /say while game-stuff is /party, and even then most people don't RP that much in RP servers (at least not on Feathermoon). You could just say your character is the quiet type or something. There DOES seem to be less imcompetant asshats on RP servers, tho.

Are you female? If so, you can join Daughters of the Horde/Daughters OfThe Alliance on Bronzebeard. However, only female players are allowed, so if you want to bring your friends and some of them have boy parts, they would not be let in the guild.

I play horde on Bronzebeard (/ob I am the GL for DotH), but my mains are horde on Llane.

My only regret is that I went for the big ponytail, instead of giving him the long, blond hair and really making him look almost exactly like Milliardo.

I don't blame you for ditching PvP. I use to play on one and while it was fun going at it with someone your own level it got annoying pretty damn fast when you're lv 20 and a lv 70 comes along, ganks you and corpse camps you (Hillsbrad). Either that or you'll get a group of them attacking lone you (happened to me in STV, I took a guy out in a fair fight and next thing I know he's back with three of his buddies blindsiding me while I was attacking a mob).

I play on the RP realm Moon Guard. It's nice. If you're not big on roleplaying a lot of guilds are only for light RP.

Whatever you do, don't join Lightbringer. Don't get me wrong there are some nice people there but there are a lot of asses too. It was by far the worst realm I've been on so far. Even my friend who spent years there ditched it earlier this year because she got sick of it.

I also play on Moon Guard. I just transferred my main there, a 63 troll named Nhadja. I also started up an alliance character, a 16 draenei named Jekaterina.

Oh cool! My current main is a lv 39 Orc named Lukaya. On the Alliance side I have a lv 19 Human named Andell.

Check the Horde/Alliance ratio on a server before you transfer. My entire guild is transferring off of Windrunner because the ratio has dropped to something like 1:5. Even on a PVE server that sucks -- battlegrounds and arenas are a joke, and the Horde AH is completely pitiful.

I'm not sure where we're going yet -- maybe Area 52 -- but there are more and less Horde-friendly servers out there.

My friends all play on PvP realms; I started out on Blackrock and have since re-joined them on Balnazzar. And yes, PvP gets fantastically annoying at times, although it's not too bad now that I'm on Balnazzar, which is a quite low population server. On Blackrock, I used to avoid playing my characters at primetime and largely skipped leveling in STV for my first few characters in order to avoid the relentless ganking, and I think my altoholism is a result of needing something else to do when I was getting camped but wanted to keep playing without bursting a blood vessel. =D

That said, PvP realms can be fun if you're questing with a group of friends on a newer server (i.e. fewer high-levels) and can have little wars with other groups on the opposite side. I knew someone who played on an RP-PvP realm and she was totally into it.

/thoughtsonPvP

But yeah, other than that I don't have any recommendations, although I've heard that Icecrown has a fairly large horde population which is unusual for a PvE server.

Oh, hey. My current Horde guild has a lot of people who were on Balnazzar. They complained about certain things, and mentioned that a LOT of people left the server.

*I* played on Burning Legion and Skullcrusher, and you could not *pay* me to go back there. *hates on pvp*

Yeah, we complain to the first of our group that was on Balnazzar about the deadness, and he always goes "it didn't used to be like this :/". We've got our own endgame guild going now, though, after merging three guilds so it's happy enough for now. Leveling up would be a pain, since there's no one to group with.

I've actually gone back to my Draenei character (long story...), but transferred her to an RPPvE server. I dragged one of the people who played with me the most, too. I said, "Look, I know YOU remember when world PvP was a good way to gain honor and you think it's cool, but now it's just hanging around in mid-level zones ganking, and I'm sick of it."

Anyway. Alliance on Shadow Council if anyone has any Alliance chars. I've found that they're getting better in battlegrounds, too.
