financial transparency in nonprofit works?
Does anyone have experience with non-profit fan enterprises? That is, those that need to show financial transparency? A friend is interested in doing a zine to benefit free-speech causes; we're probably going to accept micropayments through PayPal, but any advice on how to make the accounts public and transparent would be *very* much appreciated.

Well, one thing is that I don't think you actually want to be a non-profit in the registered sense of the word, since that costs a bit of money to set up. What you really want, I think, is merely to run this operation at cost and be able to show the people who buy services that you're not taking a cut. Is that correct?

Yes! I suspected I was unclear - this is a not-for-profit endeavor, we'd like those who pay to be able to assure themselves that the $$$ going where we say it will, but it's in no way a whole official Non-Profit ORG or anything.
