LJ Biz comes back with an updated policy.

They're now working on a two-strike system, and treating drawings and animation (read: fanart) differently to actual photographs and videos (read: child pornography). The two suspended users have been retroactively affected by this, and one has had her journal reinstated (I've heard that the other has refused).

As much as I'd love to ask "Is this the end of the wank?! :DDD" I'm not quite that naive. It will be interesting to see who goes heads backs to LJ, though. Would it be rude to ask them to leave?</stike>

My eyes started crossing at the big ass post of theirs. Can anyone tell me if they're going to enforce their ToS against non-child porn offenders and do something about all those communities that have instructions for causing oneself or others harm via starvation, purging, child abuse or self-harm?

The policy works for me. I think a lot of people were wanting immediate answers and that's just not feasible when it's a business situation, which much as we would like to think it isn't, it is. Yes, LJ handed things appallingly but it's not all about persecution.

But they're not actually treating drawings differently than photography. As they said, if a drawing is a clear violation of their policy, they'll treat it as child pornography. It's only "questionable" images that get warnings.

LJ management could put up a post in news saying that they've all gone on vacation and absolutely nothing important is changing on LJ this week, even on a normal week when fandom hasn't been all riled up, and there would still be wank.

I'm glad they're making things clearer now... although the linking thing disturbs me a little (given that web pages (and the ads on them, which, you know. Adblock) can change after you link to them, and also it's not like someone's going to explore an entire site if they're just linking to one page).
