Am I the only person who thinks this is a great idea? Granted, I haven't seen the original RENT (it's never on anywhere near me), but I love remixes and classic stories made modern (such as all the adaptations of fairytales and Shakespere) so this would look very interesting. Too bad the West End near to me isn't the British one, gah.

You know, I'm a huge Rent fan, but I honestly think this has the potential to be good. It has the potential to be god-awful, as well, but still. A lot of fans just seems to have an moral outrage against anything that might possibily make the show any money.
(Unless it's bringing Adam and Anthony back, I guess. Actual celebrities can get the fuck out, though.)

I get the updating the HIV therapies part. Makes sense really. I'd even go along with the fire escapes for a little depth on the set. But when you cut the relationships out of the show that make it interesting you invite yourself to be mocked openly by cross dressers and fans of cross dressing table dancers. Not to mention the fact the cast is so vanilla it's sad.
