Two things in that trailer that I cannot stop snickering about:

1. If you don't know the source material, you'll have no idea that this is a musical.

2. Mrs Lovett's cleavage o' doom. I'm not sure why I keep finding it so funny.

It's requiring a nearly physical force of will to keep from being pedantic about the whole thing, so I'll just say that no matter how much I gripe, I know I'll be there opening weekend.

I... frankly am not interested until I'm sure they include A Little Priest. XD

The good thing about the musical was that it actually appealed to my awful, awful sense of humor. This movie just looks like it's taking itself too seriously.

Unless they release another trailer that includes hard core singing, there are going to be so many confused people opening weekend... (someone told me the other day that when he went to see Dreamgrils people walked out because they didn't know it was a musical).

I don't care about them however. Because Johnny Depp is yummy. And so is Helena Bonham Carter. And Alan Rickman.

Sometimes I feel like I'm the only person in the universe who does not love everything Tim Burton does and drool over Johnny Depp. I don't enjoy them, and I have no idea why, which makes it all worse.

But I mostly love Sweeney Todd...

I'm embarrassed to say that Sweeney Todd has always been one of those curiosities I've heard about, but I've never pursued the music or play even though I adore Angela Lansbury. This trailer makes me want to finally indulge that musical fascination.

...I'm pretty certain I just came. Even though I find Depp's voice really lacking the depth and range for the role (and they cut Kiss Me and a whole bunch of the other chracter bits I love)- I don't care, I haven't been this excited for a film since the first HP film when I was fifteen.
