On Goblin Sexuality.
Author Jim C Hines (Of Goblin Quest notoriety) weighs in on the Dumbledore is gay debate.

Amusingly, not only is the fire-spider in his books gay, but also seems to be a bit of a slut apparently.

The man? He is amusing.

... We have to love him a little bit more. Now with ICONS

I have no idea who this is, but I love him.

His books are fairly amusing. Most especially since they are written by a D&D geek, who takes everything that makes a gaming session fun, and runs with it.

YES. He even gives a nod to Tolkien, somewhere in there. (And it is totally off the wall, RANDOM nod too. I doubt I would've focused on it so keenly if my son hadn't been on a RotK kick at the time.)

Hurrah squee, then. I like fantasy novels that aren't all pulp 'this is a writeup of your last D&D campaign, isn't it, complete with half-naked priestess?'.

Oh no... This is "Fantasy is supposed to be FUN. STOP TAKING URSELF SO SEERUSLY! KTHXBAI"

Also, the half-naked one is the goblin. *snicker*

Wow. I totally talked in class this morning about how fan fiction (and fan culture in general) and lit theory are more alike than different. I am clearly a genius ;-)

You both are. I gave a serious nod and "dayum" when I read that bit. So right.

You get to talk about fanfiction in class? *jealous* When I tried to explain fanfiction, it was blank stares all around.

Well, everyone already knows that I'm the crazy girl who doesn't think that academics know everything, lol. I did get a lot of blank stares, except from a bitchy girl who tried to argue with me (without knowing a damn thing about fan culture) and the professor who at least smiled and nodded.

Hee. There need to be more people like you.

Also, more discussion of fan culture in college, because that's just awesome.

We have at least one professor that is extremely fan friendly - she teaches a freshman lit course in Harry Potter and offered a 400-level course that applied lit theory to HP and we got to do research on fan culture. I wrote my final paper on HP femmeslash :-)

I think it's dumb to ignore something that everyone is probably involved in in some fashion but...tell that to the University. ~sigh~

I don't suppose this is available to be read anywhere? It would probably go over my head as I'm not huge on literary theory but I'd like to give it a try anyway. If not, I understand.
