Paid members can now edit comments

While this *is* a boon to wankers everywhere, there are limitations. Only comments that haven't been replied to can be edited, the OP of the post (and the comment replied to) get a copy of the original comment and the edited comment, and all edited comments get timestamps noting when they were edited. So you can hide your wankiness, but we'll still know it existed.

That edit feature is amazing. It's taken them long enough but I'm really glad they've added that.

Now if they could give them to plus users as well I think I would explode from glee.

Is that...is that Neuro I spy in your colorful icon there? I've not met another person that reads (or watches) Neuro. Pardon my shock and my inner squeeing.

...You're a Neuro fan? Who sounds intelligent?

I believe this calls for a marriage proposal.

Plus users are annoying. Either pay up, or live with the basic features, don't subject me to ads just because you're cheap.

I have a paid account myself. I just use plus for roleplaying purposes and it'd be nice to be able to edit my character's typos.

But the ads show up even for people who have paid accounts/basic? I didn't know that.

I read about that last week and was slightly concerned. Although I’ve advocated for it in the past, I didn’t really mean it. I like to cringe at my bad spelling, grammar, syntax and the God-Awful way of putting my insignificant thoughts across. Editing for links might be a boon, but there have been some very funny posts about botched HTML recently, which I'll miss.

That wank a while back, in which every one was screwing up the HTML, not only in the reported wank but the FW post, was beautiful. I don't think I have laughed that hard in quite some time.

I guess people will just have to be quicker with the screen caps.

Or with the comments, since you can't edit once someone's commented to you.

[info]meammouse

Exactly. If a comment is wanky, people are more likely to comment on it first before some wanka realizes that screencapping is in order.

Actually, if you edit a comment, the OP, plus the person you're replying to, if you're answering another comment, gets a copy of the original and the edit. So wankers aren't that well hidden.

Will it then be okay to post the emailed versions of the "original" that might be creatively edited themselves pre-copypasta?

I smell Liar!Wank in the making.

I still think it's really weird that only paid users can edit their comments. It just doesn't seem like a feature that should be paid-only.

Honestly, making it paid-only is a stroke of genius on LJ's part. I wasn't going to fork over more cash to them after Strikethrough, but for comment editing and lots of userpics I'm willing to keep paying.

I think it's strange that comment editing is only for paid, and PMing isn't... PMs seem a lot more logical as a paid member bonus.

Paid users = guinea pigs.

And as others have said, it will most likely become a server wide feature after the paid users much around with it for a lil' bit.

Can't you just use more than one browser, and stay logged in to one user on each? That also makes it more difficult to make the usual comment-from-wrong-login mistake.
