Yet more children's characters that should come out of the closet.
Cracked.com takes a look at the next nine children's characters that should come out of the closet.

Some of them are waaaaaay too obvious (Peppermint Patty, Velma from Scooby-Doo) while others mean I'll never be able to look at them in the same way again (Dave from Alvin and the Chipmunks).

They also throw in real-world counterparts to the characters, and I am too, too amused that Kermit the Frog's real-world counterpart is Anderson Cooper.

What ever could this "rainbow connection" be that "calls the young sailors" as well as the vagina-allergic Kermit? We'll let you decide.

Actually, no we won't. It's definitely gay sex.

Velma had it so bad for Daphne, she really did, but I've never been able to decide if it was requited or not.

On the other hand, though, Marcie and Peppermint Patty? Totally canon.

Okay, I feel less bad now for wanting to spend the rest of the night googling to see if smexy Velma/Daphne femslash actually exists.

Like most gay men of the past, He-Man splits his time between two identities. During his everyday life he is Prince Adam, whose outfit of choice is tights under a button-up shirt.

While this getup is presumably meant to throw everybody off the scent of the fabulousness that pulses under the surface, he probably could have come up with a better disguise than "middle-aged woman on her way to aerobics class."

Can't. stop. laughing!

Holy crap, and I thought I was the only one who shipped He-Man/She-Ra!

... when I was SIX. >.>

To this day, I still don't know how my childish brain glossed over the whole incest thing there. I think it just pretty much decided, "Hey, they're both blonde and cute and pretty and hug a lot! OMG OTP!"

... hell, I'd still ship them if I were into the fandom.

...I should probably just give up and start watching FMA and Supernatural now, huh? >.>

And now that I reread the comment, I realize it might have sounded the exact opposite that what I intended. It wasn't meant to read, "I shipped He-Man/She-Ra... when I was SIX!" in the sense of "OMG I outgrew it and now I think it's pervy," but more in the sense of, "Wow, I started on the shipping and incest and subtext-deciphering early, I guess... it was in my blood!" No wank here, moving right along. XD

And sorry for spamming inbox, would love to have an edit comment feature XD

No way the smurfs are gay. They're clearly eusocial, like bees or naked mole rats -- the vast majority of smurfs would be asexual drones (probably genetically female). Papa smurf is the only male, Smurfette is the only female.

It's obvious.

Well considering that Smurfette was an unnatural creation of Gargamel to cause discord. I've always figured they were asexual and reproduced threw dividing whenever there were less than 100 in the village.

I was surprised, sometimes Fred the outed one. I, personally, see him as more bisexual than anything else.

Velma always struck me as having a thing for Shaggy. Then again, I never liked the "female, smart, nerdy 'unattractive'=lesbian" stereotype in the first place. And I do know a few guys who actually prefer Velma to Daphne.

Velma's had canonical crushes on men, I can't say I'd consider her a lesbian.

Also, where is the Starscream? Starscream is way gayer than her.

He-Man as "middle-aged woman on her way to aerobics class" is killing me. And Dave Seville? Yes. Totally gay.

What's making me sad is that a very disturbing Dave-and-Alvin-related drawing I came across years ago is now no longer to be found online. It was horrible and childhood-destroying and dammit, where is it?? Nothing ever disappears from the internet...
