Obligatory pimp-of-nice-timing:

fandomhigh is in application mode until Dec. 15th. It's panfandom, very slash-friendly, and smut's fine in character-journals, though in light of recent LJ-wankery and the fact that it's set at a high school, the current request is for those posts to be friendslocked. It is set at a high school (and in the surrounding town, with both teenage and adult characters), though, so it depends whether that's your cup of tea or not. Ranges from angsty to cracky depending on the time of day and phase of the moon.

Ahhhahaha! Me to the roomie last night, 3/4 of the way through ep 3: "Someone somewhere right now is just waiting for this episode to end so they can put the finishing touches on their application." (Though I was guessing DG.) I think Applied Inventiontronics would rock the house. And possibility of wacky heydin'tiknowyou hijinx even if there isn't a DG in the incoming class, as one of our existing book-based characters uses Zooey Deschanel as a PB.

Camp Fuck You Die is an awesome zombie camp role play where you can play pretty much any character. It's mostly crack/character focused, and lacks any semblance of a plot unless you want to arrange one with other characters. Mostly it's played with anime/manga characters, but that's just because that's what most people there tend to app. I play Cordelia Vorkosigan there, and highly encourage more book character apping.

Before my friends and I opened Wasted Lands, we looked at Island, and the lack of moderation/updates is what turned us away. It's disappointing to find out after that the characters we wanted could have been open. I actually checked and someone who was on the claims list hadn't updated in ages, but I couldn't get a mod's attention. A bummer because it looks like fun game and we totally would have gone there. :(

Damned is pretty much the best journal game I've ever joined. Set in Landels Institute, a mental hospital; your character (who can be from anything, but no OCs allowed) wakes up there unexpectedly and is told nothing they remember is real and they're crazy.

Oh, and at night the place turns into something straight out of Silent Hill and monsters roam the halls. XD

Smut is allowed in locked posts, if both characters are over 18, though that's only during Nightshift; during the day, the staff keeps too close an eye on the patients for that to work. As for slash... well, you'd almost think we have a no-het-couples rule from how few there are! Though romance is the last thing on most characters' minds...

Apps only open every three months, though; next app period is the 15th-18th (I think) of this month. Said app is also LONG, so if you're interested you should probably get cracking. ;-)

A few friends and I recently opened Wasted Lands, which is a multi-fandom game set in an AU Alice in Wonderland sort of thing. No real people allowed, but fictional and original characters are permitted, and everything's good as long as you flock it/flag it/whatever the hell LJ wants from us now. We've only been open a little while and people are a little gunshy and quiet still, but hopefully that'll change as us mods ~~whore out our characters harassing people~~ encourage people to mingle.
