The designs for 2008's Super Sentai and Kamen Rider series have been revealed.

-Enjin Sentai Gouonger translates to "Flame God Sentai Gouonger".
-The motif is a combination of animals and vehicles, hence Enjin, which is a pun on "Engine", and Gouonger, "Go On". Their mecha may be able to transform from animals into vehicles.
-The helmets seem to be a combination of GoGoV, Liveman, and Turboranger. ETA: Thanks to [info]sticks for sharing the word from /m/: Red: Hawk/sports car, Blue: Lion/Bus, Yellow: Bear/Buggy, Green: Shark/Motorbike, Black: Wolf (Yet again)/Police car. Green and black are the backup and the mechanics, and have extra arms for the main mecha. All aboard the lion bus~
-Green is rumored to be A WOMAN. YES. This would be the first Green female to be in a Sentai series.

-Kamen Rider Kiba, or Masked Rider Fang. This is his initial form. The motif for the main Rider is, I believe, supposed to be classic Hollywood monsters such as Dracula, the werewolf, Frankenstein's monster, etc. I don't know much else about him, as I'm not a big Kamen Rider fan.

Wait, so when Mighty Morphin Power Rangers had girl rangers, the footage of the fights was from Japanese shows with all male rangers?

I've never been involved with "the fandom" for anything sentai, but when I was 9 I was the pink ranger and my best friend was the yellow ranger, so it's a rather nostalgic concept to me.

Oh, no, no, I meant a Green female will be a first. All of the Pinks have been female, a few Whites, and roughly half the Yellows have been, too, in both Japan and America. However, more often than not, Yellow's a guy but is played by a female in the Power Rangers adaptation unless the costume is so unavoidably male in appearance they can't reasonably fudge it.

I've been looking up sentai shows on Wikipedia lately, and the article on super sentai as a whole tells me that Dekaranger had one with a mostly orange costume (DekaSwan) and that way way back Battle Fever J had someone with an ornage costume.

DekaSwan, sadly, was a one-time appearance, but yeah . . .

It was orange? All I remember is the funky helmet.

Battle Cossack had the orange costume and the Egyptian-looking helmet.

Here's what /m/ says the theme is, C/P'd:

Cars based on animals.

Red: Sports car/Hawk
Blue: Lion/Bus
Yellow: Bear/Buggy

Green: Shark/Motorbike
Black: Wolf (Yet again)/Police car

Green and Black are the mechanics, who are also the backup. They have auxiliary arms for the main mech.

*pets* The dub writing is crap, the plot stinks and the kids rarely get character development.

Yet, I will love it forever as the one part of my childhood that smut somehow can't ruin.

Sadly, it looks like that rumor is false, unless they're having a skirt-less female ranger. AAlso, my god but that mech is fugly. I know I was opposed to Boukenger mechs, but they have eyes. Henshin devices look cool, though.

Kiba has four forms, the weapons for which detach from his castle. On his belt is a little bat, Courimon, who serves as the cute animal mascot. The rumor is that he was bitten by Courimon and turned into a vampire, which allowed him to become Kamen Rider. He both summons Courimon/other forms and transforms with a small whistle. I love this shot because it highlights the chains all over him.

Nice I'll have to actually remember to watch Kamen Rider next year. I sould probably finish Gekiranger first, though. I heard Miki becomes super awesome in episode 39.
