I'm not in the fandom, but I hit wikipedia... apparently he "requested not to be credited" for the role? Maybe he wasn't exactly chomping at the bit to come back as KITT.

He came back for the first Knight Rider movie, he came back for the skit when NBC did its anniversery program, he oughta be there for this.

Hell, I think they were going to use him had Team Knight Rider been renewed for a second season.

Being reminded of Knight Rider, I suddenly remembered that I always got William Daniels (KITT), and Anthony Daniels (C3PO) confused. Still do, in fact.
