RIP George MacDonald Fraser
As far as I can tell, nobody else has mentioned the death of this gentleman, surely the most successful fanfic author the world has ever known. He took a character from canon (Flashman in Tom Brown's Schooldays) and got twelve (count 'em - twelve) novels about this guy published in the mainstream. And obituaries and short stories everywhere, even The Times, which published a short fanfic story by him today (and real person crossover too!)
And in fandom? Not a word. Why not?

ETA: I apologise for the brusque way I raised this subject. I assumed that the news of his death was better known. As this has not been the case, some people will only have heard the news from my not very elegant post above, and for this I'm sorry.
