HALP?

Sorry to pose this question here, but I remember a few years ago (?) reading some wank (probably related to scans_daily, but I can't find what I'm looking for in the archive there, either) regarding a few sections from a Marvel drawing guide - in particular I remember a page where the artist in question (who may have been Michael Turner, but I'm not certain) warned aspiring artists that "too much" of a good thing really is too much, accompanied by a drawing of a fat-and-saggy Scarlet Witch.

This particularly offensive warning is something I had hoped to discuss in a paper I'm writing for an upcoming academic conference, but I can't for the life of me find it or any mention of the book it could come from.

Oh wise lounge-pals, can you show me it (or really, anything similar)?

Whoops. Nevermind, I just found it by sheer dumb luck and now I feel like an idiot. Though if you have any similar whatsits to share by all means do, while mocking me.

Is this what you're thinking of? I don't have the wank post bookmarked, but I'm guessing it wouldn't be too hard to find knowing the date.

That's precisely what I'm thinking of. Thanks. ♥

It's a little ridiculous, yes. And by "a little" I mean "extraordinarily".

Every time I see that post, I laugh/cry and wish I had a flask of Snapps in my desk, then go through them and point out all their anatomical flaws. You don't have to be an artist to know women do not walk on their toes.

I don't know what you're talking about, Rin. I wear ballet shoes everywhere, it makes me look more feminine. Don't you?

The awesome thing about that post is that outraged fanboys are still bitching in the comments. It's like they're really and truly afraid someone's going to take away their sexy comic ladies.

*blinkblinks at the link* To be a proper superhero in today's comic books a man has to be an eunuch?

That was a great thread, but I confess that the fanboys using "just don't read the comics" as some kind of valid argument threw me. It was so stupid I was unable to form coherent thoughts for a while.

EXACTLY!

Oh, I long for the days when Starfire was a chubby teen, Etta Candy ate her head off and that future, clearly far-off time where a woman who isn't shaped like two peaches on a popsicle stick is breaking heads in the comics.

Failing that, I say we make comic book hero costumes and picket some comic book headquarters!

...Or maybe just read Wonder Woman until I calm down.

My personal business site was DDOSed, costing me hundreds of dollars in bandwidth fees. I have also received numerous emails from members of your forum; threats of raping my family, exposing my bank account pin and social security number, and "goatseing" me. I traced the emails back to your members, and will take action immediately. Your IP addresses have been traced, and you will be reported to the authorities. If you think it's funny to ruin people's lives, just wait and see what will happen to yours. Do yourselves a favor and leave this site now, or you will pay the consequences.
