A Humble Request and a Note to Izzard Fans
...sorta humble, anyway.

I do hope you won't be too annoyed, but I come seeking — desperately seeking, I might say — fic. Harry Potter fic. Harry Potter slash fic. Harry—

Okay, Draco/Harry. I know, I know, throw a pebble in any direction on the internet and it's bound to land on Draco/Harry fic, but I am craving really, really good Draco/Harry. I can't stand most of it, see, but recently [info]mistful's Drop Dead Gorgeous has reawoken the need for it in me. Ideally it would be something that would, of course, appeal to a fan of her stuff; it doesn't need to be porn, but it needs sexual tension, and it needs to be long, dramatic, and witty. Anything to keep me from checking her journal every day. The best of the best, if you can. Please.

...Alternately, Firefly slash, especially of the Simon/Jayne variety, would suffice. For now.

Also, I thought I might note to any Eddie Izzard fans within a few hours' distance from NYC: He is here. For the next two weeks, he's doing shows at the Union Square Theater for five nights a week. Tickets are only forty dollars (fifty after fees from ticketmaster.com, but all the same...). I don't know what might still be available, but I thought I'd put that out there for you all. If you come this Wednesday, we'll be there at the same time!

And now, back to your regularly scheduled [info]fandom_lounge programming.

If I'm wrong about this, feel free to hit me with fish, but I think Mistful is planning to delete her fic of the interwebs sometime this autumn as she wants to publish original stuff. Time to make hard-drive copies.

Try Painless_j? If you were asking for Harry/Snape I could give you half a dozen personal recs, but her lists are very good.

If my searches are not successful soon, I might plead and beg and kick and scream for any Draco/any male or Snape/some particular males (including Harry) fic, too. Thanks for the link, in any case! :D

Yeah, I know. D: She is planning to finish it first, and although all I really care about is DDG... I'll probably end up saving it all. Not that I'd have to worry; I have a few RL friends who will probably save it all, too.

Oh, and of course... the good news is that after the fic deletion, there will (at some point!) be an original trilogy that I'm ansting to read. Which isn't really fair, given that it's still a year and a half away, but I have Christopher Moore to tide me over 'til then. And it sold for half a million! I absolutely cannot get over that.

Half a million! :O

To be honest, I've only read that post-Dh fic of Harry, Draco and kids lost in Durmstrang's underground tunnels, but I clearly need to read her other fics.

:( at fic deletion! I like her H/D stuff. There will be links to the saved versions, yes? I have a spotty internet at school, I can't go to far round to save it myself.

I'm sure there'll be people willing to send saved Word files around, if nothing else.

I think she'll be saving them as .pdf files or something otherwise easily saveable. From what I gather, it's not just going to be, "Oh, yeah, by the way... *DELETE*" one day; she's trying to make sure everyone who's interested is well aware and will be fully able to get what they want. :D

Alas, I have no fics to rec but I do have to admit that I would totally fly to NYC for some Izzard. The spouse and I did want to do something particularly exciting for this anniversary, after all!

Movies for twelve dollars! Ummm. The Bronx Zoo! Uuuh...

I'm going to refer to The Cheap Bastard's Guide to New York City.

...TRL, The View, The Maury Show, The Today Show, The Late Show with David Letterman, Good Morning America, The Daily Show, The Colbert Report...

Why yes! My life IS all about movies and television! :D

I am painfully ignorant of most popular television, not to mention movie stars, sports personalities and cultural references in general, to be honest.
Food, on the other hand, is a different matter! I'll go through all kinds of effort to find a good meal -- overpriced 'cuisine' need not apply. Last time we were there, we had some of the most delicious dumplings in this little place in Chinatown, fresh from the steamer and covered in siracha. . .mmm. Food and art -- nourishing the body and soul.

...Actually, that's fairly true for me. I'm the worst student ever! :D

I wish I could send this book, because it's got a section on cheap but good eating in the city, too.

We went to a place called Gobo in the West Village; they have a few branches open around the city now. It's Asian-influenced vegetarian food that's damn fine eating at normal prices and my god, it was soooo good. I'm not sure we'll go anywhere else next time we're there, save for the dumpling place in Chinatown.

My favourite coffee & dessert place closed after being open for ages and I was so sad! We walked all over the damn Village just to find out that it had just closed a few weeks before! *weep*
Their white chocolate cake with raspberry filling was some of the best I've ever had.

Have you read lddurham's (on lj) fics? She wrote the Indago series. Here's the summary:

A missed potion reveals a secret about Draco and Snape and Harry finds out his own place in their sexually charged and animalistic hold. Will he be able to adjust to this final battle for a peaceful life? M/M,M/M/M,Anal,D/s,Slash, Mpreg

As it says, it is mpreg, but it's well done. No ass babies. And, each story in the trilogy is either over or close to 100,000 words.

http://archive.skyehawke.com/story.php?no=8094

She's also written some good, non-mpreg stuff.

I also love sabershadowkat's The Misadventures of Draco Malfoy, Ferret. The summary: "Snape turns Draco into a ferret for his own protection. He would've been safer with the Dark Lord." As she puts it, there is "m"preg. And animal/animal bestiality. But it's less squicky and more hilarious. http://www.sabershadowkat.com/harrypotter/madmferret.html

Squib, by ms_mindfunk, is an awesome canon compliant post DH H/D. Summary: Harry has a respectable life: devoted to his family, teacher to the least-talented of the Wizarding community, retired hero. The Prophet hasn’t caught on to a few things, such as the fact that Harry is gay. He and Ginny want to keep it that way. It’s not a great life, but it’s his – until one day, an old school rival comes by to investigate his class. Suddenly, Harry’s life is no longer predictable. http://community.livejournal.com/hd_holidays/91421.html

I also second painless_j's lists. She has an entire one for H/D.

I, also jonesing after the sudden [info]mistful updates, have just been reading Corridors of Power in honor of my having to vote tomorrow. It's veryveryveryveryveryvery British, but it is also long, witty, dripping with sexual tension, and starring a Harry/Draco dynamic that reminds me quite a bit of Drop Dead Gorgeous if *slightly* less OTT.

I don't keep up on new stuff, but if by any shred of a chance you haven't read Tissue of Silver yet, that's another really excellent post-series epic Harry/Draco that comes to mind immediately when I think of H/D similar in spirit to Maya's.
