A Humble Request and a Note to Izzard Fans
...sorta humble, anyway.

I do hope you won't be too annoyed, but I come seeking — desperately seeking, I might say — fic. Harry Potter fic. Harry Potter slash fic. Harry—

Okay, Draco/Harry. I know, I know, throw a pebble in any direction on the internet and it's bound to land on Draco/Harry fic, but I am craving really, really good Draco/Harry. I can't stand most of it, see, but recently [info]mistful's Drop Dead Gorgeous has reawoken the need for it in me. Ideally it would be something that would, of course, appeal to a fan of her stuff; it doesn't need to be porn, but it needs sexual tension, and it needs to be long, dramatic, and witty. Anything to keep me from checking her journal every day. The best of the best, if you can. Please.

...Alternately, Firefly slash, especially of the Simon/Jayne variety, would suffice. For now.

Also, I thought I might note to any Eddie Izzard fans within a few hours' distance from NYC: He is here. For the next two weeks, he's doing shows at the Union Square Theater for five nights a week. Tickets are only forty dollars (fifty after fees from ticketmaster.com, but all the same...). I don't know what might still be available, but I thought I'd put that out there for you all. If you come this Wednesday, we'll be there at the same time!

And now, back to your regularly scheduled [info]fandom_lounge programming.

I am painfully ignorant of most popular television, not to mention movie stars, sports personalities and cultural references in general, to be honest.
Food, on the other hand, is a different matter! I'll go through all kinds of effort to find a good meal -- overpriced 'cuisine' need not apply. Last time we were there, we had some of the most delicious dumplings in this little place in Chinatown, fresh from the steamer and covered in siracha. . .mmm. Food and art -- nourishing the body and soul.

...Actually, that's fairly true for me. I'm the worst student ever! :D

I wish I could send this book, because it's got a section on cheap but good eating in the city, too.

We went to a place called Gobo in the West Village; they have a few branches open around the city now. It's Asian-influenced vegetarian food that's damn fine eating at normal prices and my god, it was soooo good. I'm not sure we'll go anywhere else next time we're there, save for the dumpling place in Chinatown.

My favourite coffee & dessert place closed after being open for ages and I was so sad! We walked all over the damn Village just to find out that it had just closed a few weeks before! *weep*
Their white chocolate cake with raspberry filling was some of the best I've ever had.
