Joss Whedon's been pro-fanfic for quite some time, as have a number of his writers. Jane Espenson (Buffy writer) says Joss gave her the OK to read porn fic since "they can't accuse us of plagiarism". (Paraphrased, since I don't have the exact quote handy.
