The Agony Booth! A favorite place to spend a few hours reading. Just in time for the upcoming 'holiday', (the anonymous one or that one guy's birthday, I'm not sure which,) they've posted this:

The Mega-review of Battlefield Earth!

x-posted from [info]operation_mock for those not caring too much about the Scientology angle.

I don't care what anyone says, Battlefield Earth is quite all right, provided you pretend that it's a live action version of Invader Zim.

Terl (John Travolta). Narcissistic and incompetent. Works for a vile, money-hungry organization, bent on world domination, which is responsible for all kinds of cruelty towards innocent human beings. In this movie, however, he plays an alien named Terl.

I lol'ed. :D

I gave up on it about halfway through the first page. The movie is just too godawful to be made into anything resembling entertainment.

Oh, God, this movie. A friend of mine dragged me to see it with her, because it was her turn to pick the movie and she was a die-hard Travolta fan (this did a lot to kill the love, though). We sat traumatized/transfixed with "WTF" looks plastered to our faces the entire movie (I wanted to leave, but she was driving and desperate to stay in the futile hope that it might get better). I think a large part of my soul died while watching that movie.

reposted 'cause I close tags gud.

I got half-way through the spork before giving up. Seriously, the Ferengi episodes of DS9 are funnier to read about T_T

I read the whole thing! And this is not the first recap of Battlefield Earth that I've ever read, either.

Clearly I am a glutton for bad movie punishment.

I read the whole thing too, even the special features recap, but started to really regret it around page 7 or so. But I couldn't quit then, could I? Had to stick it out to the bitter, bitter end.

The special features recap was difficult, I will grant you. You could really feel her pain on that one.

I got a bit cross-eyed reading it. Even the recap couldn't shield me from the WTFery of this movie ("What? They capture them....now they teach them their language...and how to fly a fucking plane? What?"). I had a better time understanding their recap for Xanadu.

I may have to read it again this weekend.
