Top 10 Pokemon We'd Like to Eat

Buffalo-style Torchic sounds delicious.

Now I'm in the mood for some garlic-butter smothered Omanyte. Yeah, they're mostly extinct, but maybe that's because they're just so damn delicious.

I hate myself for knowing already that magikarps are inedible.

I knew that too. (Too bony, if I recall correctly. And also prone to evolving into large, angry dragon-fish.)

But only if you randomly toss them into a battle and then pull them out so your other Pokemon can beat the shit out of your opponents and Magikarp can take an unfair share of the experience.

Or is there actually another way to train the dang thing that I just couldn't figure out? I very quickly came to dislike Magikarp while playing Red and Blue.

Later versions came up with an item that you could give to your Pokemon which would give it half the experience from any battle. So, pretty much like that, only without any work required. I think it was so they could throw in more 'starts out pretty damn useless' Pokémon, besides Magikarp and Abra*.

(Then, if you play bait and switch with the Magikarp AND used the item, it got 3/4 of the experience.)

* Okay, at least Abra can learn TMs and has the Special and Speed stats to be decent. It just doesn't learn anything useful until it evolves.

I never found a better way than that. (Except the item that only came later.) I finally got a Gyarados but considering I'm not the type with the patience to "catch 'em all" I'm not sure it was worth it.

(Abra was a pain in the neck too. And I wasn't so thrilled with having to try to battle with Togepi, though to be fair they do have attacks even if Metronome is random. I guess it's just that Togechic isn't the most kick-ass Pokemon in the Pokedex either.)

*wants to play Pearl again now*

*LOLZ* Don't worry, so did I. I saw that and my first thought was, "But they're too bony! The Pokédex said so!"

Yep, in a very very early episode when the kids and Team Rocket were stranded on a raft. Meowth tried eating James' Magikarp and broke his teeth, prompting Misty to mention that it was just scales and bones.

(No, I have no idea why I remember that so clearly. I can even hear the dialogue in my head.)

Prompting James to go apeshit over wasting two paychecks on a Pokemon so useless you can't even eat it, and give the poor dumb fish a boot to the head. Said dumb fish evolved into a very angry Gyarados, which then rallied its angry sea-dragon buddies into attacking everyone on the dingy raft with Dragon Rage. Then Island of the Giant Pokémon happened.

I have no excuse, I'm really a rabid Pokemon fan.

Seriously, they include the inedible one and leave out the one that's supposed to be a delicacy? Fail.

Magikarp is inedible. They mentioned this during an early season of Pokémon.

Hm... Jigglypuff. Poke it with a stick, roast it over a fire. Marshmallow, yummy.

Torchic was the only one that looked particularly appetizing to me. I just can't imagine a Magikarp as tasty, even if we do eat real-world fish; the thing looks like it'd be all rough and bland no matter how you cooked it.

Now I can't think of eating a roasted Octillery without picturing a screaming Harly on the background. Thank you (?)
