Just about everyone on my LJ f-list wanted to show me a cool video. Some were subtler about it than others. ^.~

I almost did it to a comm I mod. (That, or I was going to announce that the comm, which is het-centric, was going to all m/m all the time and everyone had to edit their stories with search and replace. But it was too obvious.)

I was pleasantly amused to read a recent interview with Rick Astley about the phenomenon; he seems largely baffled, but laid-back about the whole thing.

That is a a great interview. I admit, I am not tired of rickrolling yet, but maybe only because it has just caught on on the sites I frequent. I still find it damned funny to read the reactions of people that hate on him while I bop along to the music.

A friend of mine rickrolled his development team at work, with an ostensible link to a feature called "Ricursion". Which of course directed where you'd expect it to. But he went so far as to write up a functional spec that breaks the song lyrics up under categories like "Problem", "Solution", "Feature Alternatives", etc. It was fairly awesome.

I do, too. It reminds me of my extreme dorkiness in '87. Yes, I did see him in concert, don't hate on me because you weren't so lucky.

(I am not kidding, and I had such awesome seats I could see his bad complexion, now that is a shameful confession.)

Me too, but it's kind of gone around the bend and become meta and funny again at this point.

But I have to give credit to my one friend who set it up like a political post. "Another post about the woes of the middle class; why can't the press report on real news..." and I fell for it.

I RickRolled my twelve-year-old brother today: remotely logged into the computer he was using and opened his browser for him. The bewildered giggling that ensued as he tried to understand what was going on and how I could have done it was the best part of my day so far.

My favorite part is that they actually bothered to make it look like Beaker's mouth was opening at the right times, and everything. Any Youtube geek can slap down some audio, but that took dedication. ♥
